What should a new client know about working with you?

**IMPORTANT: Dr. Kamens is a clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy and does not prescribe medications.** Dr. Kamens supports clients in both exploring both the meanings of experiences and implementing concrete strategies. She believes that therapy is about improving individual lives and about addressing the problems in the world that lead people to therapy in the first place. The first step (reaching out!) can be the most difficult and takes enormous courage. Dr. Kamens is honored to be present with clients as they discover the great power that they have within themselves.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is a 60 to 90 minute intake session in which Dr. Kamens will get to know you and your experiences in various areas of your life. Subsequent therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes at least once weekly. The content of the sessions will depend on you and your unique needs. At times, Dr. Kamens will be more active, providing feedback and offering ideas. At other times, Dr. Kamens will listen, making space for understanding and discovery.
