About Dr. Sarah Zaver
Dr. Sarah Zaver is a therapeutic optometrist, glaucoma specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She was first inspired to become an optometrist after working as an optometric assistant for a group of local optometrists in her hometown. Dr. Zaver believes in providing personalized vision care to all her patients. She created Frame & Focus Eye Care so that she could provide eye care in a compassionate and inviting environment. Her hope is that each patient leaves Frame & Focus Eye Care with the comfort and confidence that their vision and ocular health was prioritized and customized for their unique visual demands.
Raised in Houston, Dr. Zaver earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology at the University of Houston. She then pursued a Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her time at the University she participated in an externship at La Nueva Casa De Amigos Eye Clinic and the Mobile Eye Institute to perform eye exams in Spanish to serve the underprivileged Houston community. She also completed an externship with the South Texas Veterans Affairs Hospital in San Antonio, TX where she had the privilege of working with veterans and active duty soldiers that had a history of traumatic brain injury. Her time at the South Texas VA solidified her interests in treating visual disorders after a traumatic brain injury and she went on to complete a residency in Brain Injury and Vision Rehab at her alma mater. As a resident, she gained hands-on experience with treating visual disorders after brain injury while working alongside some of the top optometrists, ophthalmologists, neurologists, and therapists in the Houston Medical Center. Dr. Zaver’s clinical interests include binocular vision disorders, dry eye syndrome, and myopia management.
In her free time, Dr. Zaver enjoys working out, exploring new cities, and spending time with her family and friends.
