About Dr. Scott Behler
Dr. Behler is a board certified Ophthalmologist and a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Eye Surgeons, International Society of Refractive Surgery, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. A highly respected eye surgeon, he specializes in laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery.
Dr. Behler has more than 20 years of experience and has performed thousands of refractive surgery procedures on patients from all over the world. These procedures include LASIK, PRK, Refractive Lens Exchange, cataract surgery, RK, AK, ALK, and now Bioptics and ICLS. He has brought cataract surgery into the realm of refractive surgery, enabling patients to reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses.
He has been performing LASIK since it first became available. Dr. Behler was the first surgeon in the Tampa Bay area to perform hyperopic LASIK and the first surgeon on the west coast of Florida to become certified in CustomVue LASIK. He is the only surgeon in the Tampa Bay area who is certified by all 3 of the following boards:
American Board of Ophthalmology Board of Examiners 1992 and 2002
Board Certified in LASIK by the American Board of Eye Surgery
Certified by the Council of Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance
Dr. Behler received his Master’s Degree with honors from the University of Michigan and his Medical Degree from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine. He completed the Harvard Basic Science Course in Ophthalmology and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Eye and Ear Institute at the University of Pittsburgh, with advanced training in laser eye surgery, phacoemulsification, and implant surgery.
Dr. Behler is a surgical instrument inventor and a concert pianist and conductor. He has served as Director of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Concert series and recently participated in the International Van Cliburn Competition. He has a 9-year-old son.

I booked this appt. same day due to LensCrafters not accepting my insurance. They were great. Jane was very nice and explained everything very well. I had a little bit of difficulty understanding the doctor's diagnosis the first time I saw him as he is very soft spoken but spoke fast. The second time I saw him during the visit he explained it again and I understood. I was there for about two hours but they worked me in which I greatly appreciated. I would recommend them.

Dr. Behler and his staff are very knowledgeable and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend them. What was really special was they agreed to see me when I arrived although they had no record of the appointment I booked online using Zocdoc.

I was brought in the office quickly. However, my issues start with the fact that when i booked my appoitment online, I had to call to cofirm it. Once I came to the office, I was brough in quickly. the office is clean. Staff is professional, but when the doctor came, he literally spent two minutes with me and left. I had an issue with my eye and when I followed up the next day with a question, he never got back to me.
