“I had been dealing with constant headaches for months and ended up in the ER multiple times with no real answers. I did so many tests and was even put on a weight loss medication at one point, which honestly just confused me more. Nothing was helping, so I started googling everything and finally decided to book an eye exam to see if my eyes could be the problem.
From the moment I walked in, the doctors and staff were incredibly patient and actually listened to me. They explained everything clearly and reassured me that my eyes were healthy and that I wasn’t dying, which brought me so much relief.
When I picked up my glasses, I was shocked by how clear everything looked. Ever since then, my headaches have completely gone away. I truly wish I had come here sooner.

Eye Lab was founded by Dr. Shao, who left the corporate optometry world to pursue her vision of optometry. This step led to the creation of Eye Lab, where quality eye care is prioritized over patient volume. Dr. Serena Shao discovered her passion for optometry at 14, inspired by her childhood optometrist. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of California San Diego and her Doctor of Medicine from the Illinois College of Optometry. If you want to have a doctor who doesn’t listen and speaks down to you, this is the one! Never in my 30+ years of wearing glasses have they ever not been accurate the first time, this doctor and I went back and forth maybe four times. I multiple times throughout my visits said I can’t see out of the prescription but yet was told it was because of my astigmatism and that it would take 3 weeks to adjust. Note this was for both contacts and eye glasses.
I finally went to another doctor and paid out of pocket after almost two months of back and forth without getting a correct prescription. At the new doctor I got the right prescription the FIRST TIME. I also mentioned to the new doctor about the 3 weeks adjustment period and they verbally laughed, until they realized I was serious. ??
I would I highly recommend going elsewhere for a vision check. I’m only giving a single star here due to the friendliness and helpless of the office staff.

They offer a wide range of choices for everyone—from budget-friendly options to high-end frames and lenses—and took the time to explain what worked best for my vision and my budget. They even patiently broke down my insurance coverage so everything was clear. I left feeling confident, informed, and genuinely well cared for. Highly recommend for their expertise and exceptional customer service.

The team at Eye Lab did an amazing job explaining my insurance benefits thoroughly and helped me maximize them. I used to order my contact lenses from Costco, but this year I learned that getting contacts directly from my doctor’s office is actually much more affordable! I receive more rebates for the same contact lenses I’ve been wearing for years. The team truly knows what they’re doing and genuinely stands by their patients. I highly recommend Eye Lab!

It was fine and Doctor and staff were friendly. They were pretty pushy to purchase glasses/contacts through them which is expected, but seemed a bit excessive. Found my contacts cheaper at Costco even without insurance and the rebate.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Shao and her amazing team at Eye Lab! From the moment you walk in, you truly feel like part of their family. Everyone is so warm, patient, and helpful — it’s clear they genuinely care about their patients.
When my glasses were broken by my toddler (life happens!), I reached out and was blown away by how understanding and accommodating they were. No hassle, no judgment — they honored the warranty and quickly sent me a replacement pair. It was such a relief during a stressful moment!
Also, their frame selection is fantastic. I honestly had a hard time choosing because I wanted to take every pair home! They have such a great mix of trendy and classic styles, and the team was great at helping me narrow it down to the perfect look.
If you’re looking for an optometrist who goes above and beyond, Dr. Shao and the Eye Lab team are the ones to see. Highly recommend!

Dr. Shao provided the most detailed and thorough eye exam I’ve ever had. She really took the time to listen to all my concerns, which no other optometrist has done before. The glasses selection is also great. Highly recommend her for anyone seeking quality eye care!
