What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?
In high school and college, while studying to become a physical therapist, I spent time with a physician specializing in musculoskeletal medicine and OMT (osteopathic manipulation treatment). I quickly realized this was what I wanted to do and changed course to medicine and medical school. I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM).
What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?
Sports medicine offers the best mix of long-term care with patients, where a relationship of trust and easy communication can be formed, along with therapies and procedures to help fix painful and debilitating conditions. Plus, it's fun to use an ultrasound! I completed a residency in Family Medicine at the IHS Lung Center - Latrobe Hospital and a fellowship in Sports Medicine at VCOM-Auburn.
How do you connect with your patients?
I treat patients as I would anyone in my life—showing respect, empathy, kindness, and a little humor.
What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
On weekends, you can find me with my wife, daughter, and dogs visiting hiking trails, restaurants, and parks, playing backyard football and pick-up basketball, training at a martial arts gym, or relaxing watching sports or playing video games.
What is your advice for your patients?
Exercise is medicine! The more active you stay, the less time you'll need to spend in a doctor's office (though I love to see you at mine).
I also hold a Master’s in Exercise Science from East Stroudsburg University, which complements my approach to patient care and sports medicine.
