Dr. Shawn Barillaro was born and raised in Meriden, Connecticut. after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Connecticut, he then earned his Doctorate of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. He has completed extensive clinical training in geriatrics, ocular disease, low vision and primary care. He has also completed a 1-year residency in Ocular Disease with specialization in Retina and Glaucoma Care at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Dr. Barillaro's approach to eye care is largely attributed to his grandmother who developed life-inhibiting low vision due to macular degeneration, so he cares for every patient as if they are family. He also enjoys treating persistent dry eye. In his free time, Dr. Barillaro enjoys visiting beaches, roller skating, video games, board games, reptiles, and more.
