Born and raised in London, Dr. Shrina Parekh grew up immersed in the city’s iconic West End theater scene, where her fascination with the human body in action inspired a lifelong passion for keeping performers and athletes at their peak. Today, she serves as the Sports Medicine physician at the Samuel J. Friedman Center for the Performing Arts in Times Square and is a trusted expert in musculoskeletal injuries, performance optimization, and injury prevention.
Dr. Parekh trained extensively with Division I collegiate athletes during her fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she also cared for Chicago’s vibrant performing arts community. Prior to that, she completed her residency at Jefferson Health where she designed and led the Sports Medicine curriculum, shaping resident education. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and a B.S. in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology with a concentration in Exercise Physiology from the University of Delaware.
Her experience spans elite athletics and high-performance arts alike: professional baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies, NCAA track and field, MMA “Cage Fury” competitions, the Chicago Marathon, and now Broadway in New York City. Clinically, she blends advanced diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided joint and tendon injections, and tailored rehabilitation with education, injury prevention strategies, and holistic lifestyle guidance, including sleep, nutrition, and conditioning.
Dr. Parekh is also a dedicated educator and mentor, teaching musculoskeletal ultrasound, sports medicine, and injury prevention to residents, medical students, and performing artists. She has presented research at the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine annual conferences.
