About Dr. Stephanie Nielsen
Dr. Nielsen was born in Brownsville, TX and later on relocated to San Antonio, TX. Dr. Nielsen knew from a young age she wanted to be in the medical field after seeing her older brother go through many difficult medical challenges as a young child.
Dr. Nielsen attended the University of North Texas, where she completed her B.S. in Biology with Minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. She then went on to complete her medical degree at Texas &M University College of Medicine. Dr. Nielsen returned to North Texas to complete her Internal Medicine residency at Medical City Fort Worth.
Dr. Nielsen worked as a hospitalist for the first two years after residency where she was exposed to many complex patients further expanding her knowledge in the field of Internal Medicine. Dr. Nielsen has enjoyed educating patients about their various health conditions and decided to transition to outpatient primary care for preventative care and to build long-lasting relationships with her patients. Dr. Nielsen has a special interest in women’s health and is fluent in Spanish.
During her off time, Dr. Nielsen enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children and is very active in her church.

I visited this office for an injury and to establish a new primary care provider. I was seen quickly, but had several issues. Because there was no on-site X-ray, I had to go elsewhere, which was fine, but although the office received results within days, I heard nothing for a week and only received a voicemail after calling them and being told they would call me back. I was simply told on the voicemail the X-ray was normal, with no further guidance on my injury. A medication I do not take was added to my chart and remains despite multiple requests. When transitioning prescription management, I was required to complete a drug test (seems over the top but ok) and again had to follow up before the prescription was sent, despite results of that test being available quickly. Communication was difficult with the physician as she spoke very fast. A radiology center sent mammogram results requesting a follow-up order, and I still have yet to receive a response. Will be finding a new provider.

Dr. Nielsen was outstanding. I have visited other providers in the past that felt as though they already had in their mind a topic or plan without truly listening to me as the patient. This was not that type of experience. She was a great listener and took good notes then I was very impressed with her emphasis on my improvement to move on from medication, rather than just giving a prescription and putting the patient on the back burner. I really left feeling great at my choice for a provider.

A+ experience from start to finish! Wow! My previous pcp was over an hour away so it was time for me to find a new provider in a more convenient location. I had been dragging my feet because starting somewhere new is always hard. I read reviews and honestly Dr. Nielsen looked super friendly and had a good “vibe.”
I was not disappointed! The office staff was fabulous and super on top of things, and had all of my paperwork in order. I was called back in under 5 minutes and the MA was very personable, and thorough. Dr. Nielsen was OUTSTANDING. She is clearly at the top of her field, but also has a warmth and compassion that many providers are lacking. I cannot say enough good things about her. 10/10, highly recommend to anyone.

Since moving to Texas, i’ve been looking for for a Doctor. Not just any doctor but someone who really takes their time to explain whats going on with your body, and someone that listens. Dr. Nielsen really took her time also she was so welcoming which made me feel very comfortable, you can tell she loves what she does.
