About Dr. Stephen Gildersleeve
Stephen Gildersleeve, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) in Fullerton, California, and graduated magna cum laude. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska.
Dr. Gildersleeve then completed a hospital-based ocular disease diagnosis and management residency at the Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, New Mexico, dealing with a challenging and complex patient base. While at SCCO, he was recognized as the best in his class in primary care and ocular disease diagnosis and management. He also scored in the top 1% in the nation on the National Board parts 1 and 2, leading his class in both.
Dr. Gildersleeve enjoys helping people with visual solutions that improve their daily quality of life. He says, "It is amazing to meet so many people and have them trust you in caring for their vision and referring their family and friends to our practice."
Born and raised in the small community of O'Neill, Nebraska, Dr. Gildersleeve is a team optometrist for the University of Nebraska athletics. He specializes in primary eye care, management of ocular diseases, sports vision, and fitting routine and specialty contact lenses.
In his young career, he has given multiple lecture hours of continued education to fellow optometrists and is already very well respected among his peers. Dr. Gildersleeve also lectures with KMK Educational Services, a company that prepares 3rd-year optometry students to take and pass the National Boards.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Gildersleeve enjoys hiking, fishing, land management, aviation, and spending time with family.
