About Dr. Stephen Harney

Stephen J. Harney, O.D., F.A.A.O., received his Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 1978. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, in 1974. He did post-doctoral clinical training in specialty contact lenses at Korb Associates in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the head of the Contact Lens Department at the former Leahey Eye Clinic, Inc., Lowell, Massachusetts. As an Optometrist, Dr. Harney is skilled in the field of cornea and contact lenses, having proven competence by becoming a diplomate in the section of Cornea and Contact Lenses of the American Academy of Optometry in 1997. Dr. Harney is also interested in sports vision and laser vision consultation. With years of medically-related experience, Dr. Harney has also learned to handle complex optometric medical cases. These include contact lenses, dry eyes, pediatric and geriatric care (with emphasis on pathological diagnosis and management), and co-management of laser vision refractive surgical cases. Dr. Harney is an enthusiastic sportsman and fan and devoted to his family. He enjoys golfing, skiing, and hockey when not treating patients. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children.
