Getting to know Dr. Steven Howard

Dr. Howard has over 30 years of experience treating self esteem, intimacy/relationship issues, anxiety, depression, sexual identity conflicts and stuttering. He works with individuals, couples, and families. Many clients feel a sense of trust and safety in their sessions with Dr. Howard. He utilizes a highly interactive, integrated approach of psychodynamic and cognitive therapy in a comfortable therapeutic setting to facilitate that sense of support and trust in a direct/honest therapeutic relationship. Dr. Howard is a certified Psychoanalyst and has trained in Cognitive Behavioral perspectives. He supervises Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Social Workers in integrating both treatment modalities. Much of his work focuses on intimacy and difficulty entering or sustaining meaningful relationships. I believe the therapist must always listen from an empathic perspective. This permits a greater understanding of the way the client experiences their world, which allows for maximum insight and the means for positive change. With insight, I help the client formulate the unformulated thoughts they have that affect their thoughts and actions.
