About Dr. Sylvia Briceno
Dr. Briceno earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. She worked at the VA Medical Center for 10 years, training future eye doctors and optometry residents. Her professional interests include the treatment and management of ocular diseases, particularly chronic conditions such as glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration. Dr. Briceno specializes in hard-to-fit contact lenses, including the use of scleral lenses to correct keratoconus and other irregular corneal conditions.
Originally from Venezuela, Dr. Briceno is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Virginia Optometric Association.

Everyone was very friendly, they explained me every step of the exam, the doctor was very nice and professional. At the end I end up buying a pair of glasses there as well! I am definitely returning! Great place and great people.

Dr. Briceño was amazing! So grateful I found her. I was coming in for a new prescription and my initial scans seemed a bit off to her. She encouraged me to come back for further testing just to be safe. She repeated the tests and thoroughly examined me. She ended up having to refer me to the emergency room for potential papilledema. Thankfully, I followed her recommendation and was able to get this treated. If it weren’t for her diligence and attention to detail, I would’ve have treated this condition that could’ve cost me my eyesight! I highly recommend Dr. Sylvia Briceño for her expertise and bedside manner.

Amazing experience from the moment you walk in, the staff is awesome and answer any questions you have. I was nervous about a new machine (I hate that puff in your eye) but found out they use another tool there! It tickled but they made me less nervous and I appreciated that. My doctor walked me through my eye exam and educated me on everything she was doing and the test she was choosing to run. Great experience and I can’t wait to come back for my next appointment.

As my first time with Dr Briceno, I wasn’t sure what to expect other than the reviews I read, which led me to the visit. What a great experience! The staff was so friendly and up to date on my information. I was seen almost as soon as I arrived. The exams were done professionally. Dr B was so fun and such a clear communicator with all the steps throughout. Overall, highly recommend!

Very informative! Each person I came into contact with explained everything in detail, and when I had a question, explained further! I also appreciated that the monitor that the Dr. was looking at faced me so that I could see what she was talking about. Dr. Briceno has become my primary eye doctor after this first visit. We were all laughing with each other by the time I left! Great office!
