About Dr. Tamar Gottfried

Tamar Gottfried is an Arizona native, having grown up in Tempe and graduated from McClintock High School. She attended the University of Arizona on a Flinn Scholarship, earning her bachelor's degree while spending summers in Mexico and Central America becoming fluent in Spanish. Dr. Gottfried completed medical school at the University of Arizona in 1994 with a full-ride Dean’s Scholarship and a grant to study women’s health in Fortaleza, Brazil during her fourth year. She also completed graduate classes in medical anthropology during medical school, studying the cultural influences on women’s health and health care.
Dr. Gottfried did her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the renowned LA County/University of Southern California program. She then returned to Arizona to work at the Casablanca Clinic in Mesa. In 2001, she started her own private practice in Mesa, providing obstetric and gynecologic care to women of all ages.
She serves on her hospital peer review committee and helps precept University of Arizona Phoenix medical students as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ob/Gyn.
Dr. Gottfried practices at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa. Her beautiful office, located on the Banner Desert campus, offers in-house laboratory services, in-office surgery including Essure and Novasure, computerized medical records, video colposcopy, and first-trimester ultrasound for every new pregnancy. She enjoys caring for a variety of obstetric and gynecologic conditions, from contraception and heavy bleeding to abnormal pap smears, menopausal issues, and basic infertility.
