About Dr. Thomas Horst
Dr. Horst was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Gilman School where he excelled in math and sciences and played varsity football, basketball, lacrosse, and golf. He then headed to North Carolina and graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Duke University.
Before beginning his medical career, Dr. Horst returned to Gilman School where he was a Mathematics teacher and coach of football, basketball and lacrosse. He is proud to have won the Edward K. Dunn Award for excellence in teaching and won the Junior Varsity A Conference football championship in the same year. Dr. Horst then embarked on his medical career, but cherishes his experience as a teacher and coach.
Dr. Horst graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and came to the University of Miami for residency training. As a chief resident, he received the John Ford Award for outstanding performance in gynecologic surgery.
Dr. Horst is board-certified and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He has been on staff at South Miami Hospital since 2003 and a part of South Miami OB-GYN Associates since 2005. He is dedicated to his patients and also enjoys quality time with his wife and two young children.

This was my first visit with Dr. Horst. I found him to be very pleasant and he thoroughly answered all of my questions regarding family planning. I felt relaxed and comfortable during our meeting. It’s always nice to have a conversation with the physician in an office rather than sitting on the exam table which can be more clinical and uncomfortable.
