Dr. Perkins was great - very friendly and gave a complete diagnosis. Spent a good amount of time with me and put my mind at ease. Highly recommend!
The office did well dealing with a zocdoc paperwork snafu (their system wasn't cooperating) and still took me back in time. I feel like I was well treated, learned something and was able to be back in my car within an hour. Overall, I'm very happy that I chose Dr. Perkins.
I did have to wait a bit, twice. But it was worth it. Very professional, and made sure to explain everything in a way that would make sense to me - not just a check the box, and not talking to me like an idiot. I got what I needed, but I felt confident in my decision to do so.
quick wait and Dr. Perkins was kind and had wonderful bedside manner.
Could not be more pleased with Dr. Perkins. I had an early morning appointment and was seen almost immediately. He was thorough with questions and I was out of there with a prescription in hand within 20 minutes.
Very knowledgeable but he was too sarcastic and it came off harsh. Plus I heard the staff discussing other patients so that was violation of OSHA's rules.
He was great, very nice and he took the time to explain things to me and listened to my questions and concerns. I will definitely go back for future needs.
Explained things very well, spent time seeing if I had any questions and was very thorough. Highly recommend.
Dr. Perkins was professional and friendly and started the appointment promptly. My only quibble was that he seemed a little rushed. Unlike other doctors,he did not take a moment to get to know me as a first-time patient. He did not chat before proceeding with the appointment.
Great office staff! They were very friendly and efficient. I was seen within a few minutes of arrival. Dr. Perkins was very thorough and friendly and gave me a good understanding of everything he was doing.
Dr. Perkins was great! He listened to my concerns & asked questions to make sure he was understanding me. He also brought up things I hadn't thought of which were very helpful.
Dr. Perkins was great. I would definitely see him again. He was efficient and had a good sense of humor. He was really easy to talk to.
Dr. Perkins is great; I was seen before my actual appointment time and he did a really thorough skin exam. I was also pleased that he could do a quick removal of a skin tag/mole without my having to come back again (although everyone was so nice I would not have minded a return visit). Thank you!
I loved Dr. Perkins. I didn't feel like I was being upsold or BS'd. He was very transparent about costs upfront. I felt at ease and I feel like he took his time with me.
Dr. Perkins was great - explained everything in a detailed manner and made sure I understood everything he was prescribing.
Excellent. He is the best.
Very busy office. Dr. Perkins was professional, but he seemed to be in a hurry.
This was my first visit with Dr. Perkins. Receptionist were very friendly and I didn't have to wait. Dr. Perkins was very friendly and was straight to the point. I would definitely recommend.
Dr. Perkins and his staff are great. I arrived quite early yet only had to wait a few minutes. Everyone was friendly, and Dr. Perkins was efficient without being rushed. Highly recommend!
My appointment with Dr. Perkins went very well. He was extremely attentive. I had quite a few questions and he answered them all without making me feel rushed. I appreciated his attention to detail and the thought he put into determining my best course of action. I would highly recommend him.
Doctor is professional and knowledgeable. Give me some good advice for my skin care. One of the front desk ladies was kind of rude but other ladies were nice enough. I was there before some of other patients but they were seen before me. I don't know what the deal was.
Dr. Perkins was able to help me diagnose a skin problem that a separate doctor and two other nurses were not able to help me with in the past. Thank you!
Gave me an honest and understandable explanation of the skin conditions I had. He was very personable and had a sense of humor that put me at ease prior to the procedure.
Really personable, very knowledgable. Very quick visit but he made sure I understood exactly what his treatment method was. I'm very happy I found this office.
Professional, courteous and reassuring.
Friendly and very competent
Great dermatologist. He was very informative and took the time to explain what was going on with me in a professional way yet did not talk down to me. Very friendly, too.
I'll go again.
Dr. Perkins was wonderful and helped assess my needs. He had great bedside manner and made me very comfortable, especially since this was my first time at a Dermatologist. He and his staff were busy when I arrived, but to me that says he is needed and they handled things well even while rushing. He explained all things I needed to know and his staff did the same with my many questions. I would highly recommend them.
I had a great experience. The front desk personnel were very pleasant and helpful as was the Doctors assistant. Dr. Todd Perkins was very kind and informative and took his time explaining things and answering my questions. He was very knowledgeable and competent. I recommend him highly.
Very friendly staff, well organized office. Dr. Perkins saw me about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. He was very friendly, thorough in his exam, and offered good recommendations and advice.
Dr. Perkins' office is busy--expect to wait a while only to be seen for a few minutes. The exam itself was cursory and not thorough (I had to point out a questionable mole that the doctor missed). That said, Dr. Perkins was straightforward, didn't waste any time, and gave sound advice. His front desk staff, however, are rude and disorganized. They submitted my claim to the incorrect insurance, which I had to discover and fix (they scanned my new insurance card when I came to my appointment, so I'm not sure how this is possible). While no one pushed me to undergo any cosmetic treatments, the doctor's office is filled with advertisements for various cosmetic procedures, which made me feel pressured and uncomfortable. I will likely not be returning to this office.
Dr. Perkins and his staff provided me with outstanding service. I was impressed with the courteous and professional attention given to me. Dr Perkins was thorough and educational in his practice. I will definitely return for my future needs.
The only pro about this office is that I was seen on time and the staff was friendly. I went to Dr. Perkins for concerns about constant itching, eczema and a new r. We discussed my eczema and I found him to be dismissive and condescending. He barely took a look at me and rudely dismissed my question about a possible underlying food allergy that may be culprit. He blamed my itching on anxiety and suggested that I see a therapist. He never even address my acne which is deep under the skin. He told me "we'll get to that another time." I am in his office looking for answers and all he would give me was prescriptions to control the itching and "come back in a few months." I left his office fighting back tears. I'm never going back to him.
Took the time to write down his recommendations and has a great bedside manor.
First office visit, first dermatology visit. Office was packed when I arrived for my appointment, and never slowed down. A very busy practice, but that seems to be a good sign. Dr. Perkins only spent a few minutes with me, and the examination was immediate once he walked in and gave a straightforward diagnosis and two prescriptions--which seem to have had positive effect. His bedside manner isn't for those who need a lot of coddling and small talk, though if the whole practice is that busy I understand. I would describe his manner more like that of "House" the television series doctor, less grumpy, but clinical in the utmost--and really, isn't that ideally what a doctor should be? If you make an appt via ZocDoc, be sure to tell the front desk immediately to avoid new patient paperwork.
I was 30 minutes late to my appointment, but they still fit me in. Very grateful for that. I saw Dr. Perkins for my acne problem. He holds nothing back-- very direct, but very friendly, and more interested in actually curing your acne than simply treating it. After having gone to a half dozen dermatologists in my youth who just wanted to give me skin creams, this came as a huge relief.
The front desk was very nice and attentive. Dr. Perkins explained a lot to me, and I am happy about the outcome of my visit.
Dr. Perkins was great. He listened to all of my concerns and made sure to address each one. The office staff was also great. They were very professional but also welcoming. I was brought back to a room right away and I appreciated that. Great experience all around.
Doctor Perkins is great! He listens and spends time addressing all of your questions and concerns. I would highly recommend him!
most efficient experience I have ever had with a medical provider. A+++, thanks much!
Great Doctor. Took the time to explain things and was thorough. Would highly recommend.
It's hard to establish rapport with someone when you only see them for 15-20 minutes but Dr. Perkins did just that. He kindly answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable before leaving.
Dr. Perkins was very professional, informative and helpful. I was impressed with his demeanor as well as with his knowledge base of the concerns that I had. I would highly recommend Dr. Perkins.
My visit was great DrTodd Perkins office staff was friendly and professional and he gave me some great information and a follow up in one week
The wait was a little long (a lot of people came at the same time, so I'm not sure if this is normal), but once I was in, it was less than 5 min until I saw the doctor. He was very professional and very concise.
Great...My experience was that of no waiting. Fast diagnosis. In and out and well informed.
Dr. Perkins was very condescending. He interrupted me every time I spoke and he even scoffed at my questions. I've never had this kind of an experience with a doctor before. The majority of the appointment was Dr. Perkins ranting about something unrelated to my questions. You can tell that he likes the sound of his own voice. His staff is very disorganized. They don't return phone calls regarding prescription requests. I also had blood drawn several weeks ago and they haven't called me with the results. I won't be wasting anymore time with Dr. Perkins or his staff.
Very responsive and efficient. I recommend him and this practice.
He is highly knowledgeable and thorough!
Although I showed up on time, I had to wait 45 minutes before I was able to see Dr. Perkins. There was a mix up with the receptionist, which caused other patients with later appointments to be seen before me. Dr. Perkins apologized for the mix up and spoke with his staff prior to seeing me to ensure it wouldn't happen again. Dr. Perkins was informative and professional, and he did not force any prescription or treatment I did not feel comfortable with.
He was very efficient, professional and effective.
Dr. Perkins was very personable and thorough. This is the first time that I have seen him but I intend to see him on a regular annual basis.
He was great. Made me feel comfortable right away and the entire team was pleasant.
Dr. Perkins was friendly, helpful, and explained treatment options clearly. Great experience.
I was running a bit late to my appointment, but the front staff was friendly regardless and it wasn't an issue. I waited a bit to see Dr. Perkins and when we met he was personable and kind. I feel as though he had my best interest in mind in that he didn't try to encourage me to go for the most costly procedures. He recommended that I start w a more reasonable plan to treat my acne and we check in in a month or so to see how I'm doing.
I was really impressed with Dr. Perkins. He was very thorough, exceedingly nice, and made sure I had all the information I needed.
Dr. Perkins is very knowledgeable and creates a great rapport with his patient, carefully explaining what he expects to do and how he will do it. He puts you at ease and answers all questions in a manner that makes the information easy to understand.
Dr. Perkins was quick, professional, and comprehensible. This was my first skin screening and I am very glad to have chosen him. Highly recommended.
Experienced and very direct.
Getting an appointment with a dermatologist can be difficult as their schedules are often booked for months. When I was able to schedule an appointment with Dr. Perkins with only two days of advanced notice, I was really pleased. However, I felt like a patient on a conveyor belt with Dr. Perkins. Additionally, I felt pushed to purchase cosmetic treatments/therapies I did not inquire about. In fact, Dr. Perkins seemed quite pushy and did not respond well when I said I wasn't interested. I would recommend this MD to a friend if she/he were in a time crunch, but I would caution folks that Dr. Perkins likes an upsell opportunity.
I think he was professional and knowledgeable I would definitely recommend him
The appointment was short, but very productive and helpful. He was efficient and timely and addressed all of my concerns. Very friendly doctor, and while the office staff weren't overly friendly, they were polite and helpful.
Great doctor and was in and out quickly. He explained the medicine and science clearly and succinctly.
Brief, but a good visit. Doctor Perkins is knowledgeable and I enjoyed his sense of sarcasm. He also provided me a coupon for my prescription.
Dr. Perkins was very attentive, answered all of my questions and made sure that I understood all of the terminology that he was explaining. The office staff were professional and attentive, and I was called in right at my appointment time. Will definitely be back as a regular patient.
Very personable; explained everything; cautioned me to use sun screen at all times. I'm sending my husband to see him and will encourage friends to get themselves checked for pre-cancerous spots.
On a level of medical attention, Dr. Perkins did a great job and gave me the medicine I needed to treat my problem. However, I waited in the room for close to an hour without being seen. When Dr. Perkins saw me, he was friendly, but I felt that he was condescending toward me as a patient as I explained my issues and dermatological history. For that fact alone, I won't be returning.
Great first visit. Haven't been to the dermatologist in a few years but this was a great experience and I'll definitely be coming back.
Smart, professional, humorous, knowledgeable, slightly sarcastic. Not overly rushed. Very nice front desk + med tech team.
I hadn't been to a dermatologist in a long time so this visit was a great refresher about general skin health and what to look out for as I age and spend time in the sun this summer. Dr. Perkins was friendly and informative and very professional. I would definitely recommend Dr. Perkins.
Really good experience. Competent and efficient staff. Dr. Perkins handled random questions well, and did his best to make me feel comfortable. Will feel good going back to him.
Very professional, good explanation of skin condition
Fast, personable, and informative. Will definitely revisit for any future consultations.
Worst doctor's visit EVER. The doctor completely rushed my visit and refused to go over a 15 minute appointment saying he had to see other patients. He insisted that I book a second appointment if I wanted more time. I did not get an entire consultation as I had an inquiry that the doctor chose to ignore as it was over the 15 minute time limit to the appointment. If I had known this prior to the visit I would have not chosen this doctor.
Dr. Perkins was very professional and addressed all my concerns
I saw Dr. Perkins this morning for the first time. It was a great experience! He was very thorough, thoughtful, and candid, all of which were incredibly refreshing. I plan to continue seeing him for my routine dermatology needs. The only negative thing was his horrible receptionist. I didn't have a physical copy of my insurance card with me (which has literally never been a problem at any other medical appointment I've ever had) and she was so angry about it, making bizarre hand gestures and everything. When I wasn't thrilled that she was talking down to me, she acted as though I was somehow in the wrong. Very, very unpleasant experience. Luckily, Dr. Perkins' great manner made up for her rudeness. All in all, I highly recommend this place. Just brace yourself for some nastiness in the waiting room before you get back to the exam room!
It was very good, I was in, diagnosed, treated, and out in 20 minutes, and that as a new patient.
Very thorough and knowledgeable.
I feel like Dr. Perkins is very knowledgeable and wants to help his patients. The one downside to my visit was that they seemed overbooked and I felt rather rushed out of my appointment. Other than that, the experience was good.
Really great! Quick, professional, effective. My only negative feedback is that I checked in on ZocDoc, but had to fill out all of the forms when I got to the office because they clearly had no idea how to get the documents off of ZocDoc.
Courteous and professional .
My visit was a Great experience. Dr. Perkins is highly professional and very nice. He explained everything to me and made me feel very comfortable.
Dr. Perkins was great! Helpful, informative, empathetic and approachable. I'd highly recommend him.
He was great and the appointment was very informative. He doesn't just give you a prescription and leave it at that--he explained many options for my treatment and asked what I was most comfortable with, which is the way it should be!
Awesome doctor! Very patient and kind
This was a completely positive experience. I arrived early and was able to go to my appointment early as well. Dr. Perkins explained all aspects of my condition and my options.
I prefer doctor's that are personable and get to know a patient, to establish a repertoire to make for a more enjoyable and ultimately helpful and correct diagnosis/treatment going forward. I do not like to 'doctor hop'. When it comes to specialists I expect even more specialized care because of the nature of the visit, this is something abnormal, possibly scary or uncomfortable. Ultimately I was disappointed with the front desk, the business of the office, the lack of organization, and the doctor's way of doing business. I attempted to call the office 15 minutes before my visit to find out about recommended parking (certain garage/validated parking/street parking etc) there was no answer. I left a message and no call was returned. I did paid street parking, I forgot to ask whether or not they validate parking. I walked in about 5 minutes late to my weekday afternoon appointment. I checked in with a less than welcoming front desk that struggled to find my ZocDoc paperwork because one front desk attendant would not answer the other front desk attendant sitting right next to her (hello hostile work environment!). After about 5 minutes of awkwardly standing at the front desk my paperwork was found, my chart had already been made. Then I was told I needed to hand over my insurance card. I was not expecting this for multiple reasons, 1. I had filled out in detail my insurance info, including policy number, group number, and ID number. 2. I booked through ZocDoc which only shows you doc's covered by your particular insurance 3. I was never asked to show my ID card at my general physician's office. 4. I was never asked to show my ID card at dentist's office. 5. I was never asked to show my ID card at my optometrist's office. 6. I never received a phone call from this office reminding me of my appointment and asking me to bring in a physical ID card This began a truly enlightening and bad experience. I was told that, despite having my driver's license and full ZocDoc info they can not be sure I am who I claim to be and I have the insurance I claim to have. If this is Dr. Perkins' general policy, to assume your patient's are guilty of criminal behavior before they walk in the door, then I may suggest to do a courtesy 24 hour/72 hour call to remind and confirm appointments and request insurance IDs are in hand. (I never received a confirmation call or email from the Doc office, I did receive the standard texts from ZocDoc). The courtesy call could avoid any unpleasantness for your staff having to assume I am a criminal, and for your patients to be blindsided. Also I would suggest putting in place a procedure of simply doing what other doctor's offices and pharmacies do so well, confirming insurance status before the appointment. (Those offices/pharmacies generally call if any info is missing to complete this process or coming back as invalid) I was informed twenty minutes later of a less than ideal policy of requiring a generic payment without and insurance card(quite high) and then you're still responsible for providing the card within 2 days. (I guess they really don't want to call these insurance companies themselves) This wasn't acceptable to me, I knew I had insurance, I knew I was myself and I knew they accepted my insurance policy. So 30 minutes after my appointment was supposed to begin I found an online copy of my insurance card (I logged onto my insurance provider's website to find it) and emailed it to the office email. The office does provide a guest wifi because my phone signal, like most, was at "No Service" in the office area. Their wifi was not reliable, so the emails never went through. The front desk then had me sign a waiver, and waived the bottom portion saying I would be responsible for that arbitrary copay amount they specified earlier. Then, I finally got a smile from one of the front desk attendants! Whew. 45 minutes later I was ushered back to see the doctor. After a nurse asking what my visit was for and handing me a gown I waited for about 1 minute before hearing a knock on the door. Dr. Perkins looks exactly like his picture. He greeted me with a smile and a firm handshake. He apologized for the "incident". It was the most AWKWARD and FORCED apology ever, only confirmed by his further explanation of "you do understand why you need your ID card, don't you?" I was very surprised the doctor chose to discuss this portion of the visit with me. It felt a bit like chastising and rubbing in an already old wound. I was all for leaving front of the house, with front of the house. With Dr.Perkins there was no separation. He further explained that people come in and claim they have insurance they don't have, or worse come in and claim they're someone they're not and then the office has no way to obtain payment for services. Was I being punished all over again? I already felt like I was being treated like the criminals that apparently frequent their office but to hear it all over again felt like a bit much. I explained to Dr. Perkins that at my general physician, dentist, pharmacy, and optometrist I had never been asked for my card so I was under the impression that ZocDoc's forms were sufficient. I forgot to mention to him that I also never received a call ahead of time from his office, to serve as a confirmation of appointment or reminder to bring a card. His response was uncanny. "You do understand you're legally bound to have your ID card on you?" I felt like I was now being sued. The thought of now speaking to Dr. Perkins about the sensitive, and personal nature for the visit was very uncomfortable. He must have sensed the mood in the room though, and quickly said with a shake of his head "Well, it's done now! Sorry to bring that up... I don't want to start off an appointment on this note[I forget what else he said about why he brought it up]" And I nervously chuckled and said "Well I guess we did." Because there was simply no undoing the experience I had in this office. I 100% did not expect to even include the experience in my review, but when Dr. Perkins made the front of the house booking/ID issue part of the actual doctor's visit I realized I would never return and I would strongly advise anyone that wants personalized, respectful, comfortable, 'take your whole family to this specialist' type of care, to avoid this office.
I didn't have to wait in room for much time at all. He was thorough and precise in providing medication for my skin condition. His offices are very close to my office which allows me to keep my PTO at a minimum for medical appointments. I even made my husband see him because I knew he would do a thorough skin cancer screening on him than what he received from his other Dermatologist which means catching it before it becomes cancer. I Highly recommend him to all.
He was very thorough and extremely friendly.
Went in today as a new patient. Received a new diagnosis and he gave me a new treatment program. He was very nice and warm and explained a lot in detail. Had a great experience already and we haven't even started the treatment yet.
Pleasant, professional and efficient.
My wait time was low, Dr. Perkins answered all of my questions thoroughly, and I left with a solution to my problem. Can't ask for much more than that. I would recommend Dr. Perkins.
He seens knowledgeable however, i came for him to treat acne and hairloss. So lets see how things go
Dr Perkins was very patient and thorough. He addressed not only issue I came in for but also some of the others ones I always wondered about. Highly recommended!
I was very impressed and felt very comfortable talking about anything.
He seemed to be in a rush, treated me like i didn't know anything and my comments were beneath him. Was very disappointed, he seemed very arrogant.
Dr. Perkins was very patient and explanatory during my appointment. I was brought to an examination room very quickly, and only waited there about 1 minute before Dr. Perkins arrived. I highly recommend. If you plan to pay by credit card, please note that they do not accept American Express.
I really recommend dr perkins .. He was so friendly and show care i
I arrived earlier than my appointment time to make sure everything was squared away -- turns out the paperwork I submitted through zocdoc was not received, so I had to fill it all out again. Dr. Perkins was great -- very friendly and asked me a lot of questions. He explained my options well and we set up a plan for treatment.
Dr. Perkins was friendly and thorough. It's a busy office and he obviously had a fully schedule but he took time to explain things and listened to my questions. Would highly recommend.
Very personable. Made sure to get to know me as a patient, my concerns and history, and inform me as much as possible.
I thought Dr. Perkins was great-- thorough, patient, and likable. I've been shopping for a competent dermatologist who takes insurance for a while: I'll be revisiting Dr. Perkins next year!
I had what felt like a "dumb" question, but he was totally nice about it, and I left with good info too.
Great guy! Very low key and personable. Seems committed to offering a variety of dermatology options for any issue one may have. Very glad I was referred to him.
Dr. Perkins helped explain things in a clear and complete manner. The visit was also very quick, but didn't feel rushed.
Dr. Perkins was great - best dermatologist I have ever been to. Listened to my long list of issues and gave me advice and pets rip ruins for all - practical, knowledgeable and great bedside manner.
Dr. Perkins is thoughtful and caring! Great bedside manner. A first-rate practice.
Great experience. Arrived 20 min early for my appointment and was seen right away. Dr. Perkins has a nice, straight-forward bedside manner.
Straight to the point, no bs kind of doc. Explains everything well, and makes sure all questions are thoroughly answered.
They were running about 30 minutes behind; it seemed like they packed too many appointments within a 1hr timeframe. Once he saw me, he was quick to the point and thorough. The office is a bit dated, and they don't appear to have electronic medical records, which was very disappointing - they still write paper prescriptions and have walls lined up with paper charts. Clientele seemed mostly elderly women, a couple of boomers. I would've expected a more extravagant and modern office, for a dermatologist, especially in DC.
Very predictable - in a good way.
Nice guy, very good doctor. Staff was very helpful as well.
Excellent doctor, he takes the time to listen and he answered all my questions. He also took the time to write a detailed doctor's note for my work. Very satisfied patient!
He was very helpful and attentive and obviously very knowledgable. He treated me for mild rosacea and other skin problems with my face.
He was great! I would definitely go see him again!
He was the best dermotologist I've ever seen. Very knowledgeable and confident. Also, very reassuring. I would recommend for any type of skin condition.
very friendly and professional. highly recommended!
Dr. Perkins was friendly and informative. He proceeded in a professional manner and conducted the appointment in an efficient manner without rushing anything. He asked if I had any questions and provided me with helpful information.
Very helpful. He was pressed for time but answered all of my questions and got right to the point on everything. Was able to diagnose quickly and confidently.
Very knowledgeable and takes time to explain complex concepts carefully.
He listened well which is really important to me and was very personable. This was my first visit but the treatment we decided on will have me doing monthly visits. The staff was really nice, too. Great first impression and I already feel like this is a place and a doctor I can recommend.
Dr. Perkins, appeared to be very knowledgeable about what my condition is and how to treat it.
An excellent dermatologist. He was professional and knowledgeable. He explained everything and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend him.
Easy and efficient visit. Front office was quick and the doctor was ready promptly. Dr. Perkins was thorough, explained and educated well on relevant skin issues, took good notes and gave me clear instructions for follow-up. Excellent visit!
Dr. Perkins was great. Completely made me feel at ease and was able to make a diagnosis right away. His ability to relate to me and my skin condition made me very comfortable the entire visit. I would definitely recommend
Efficient and informative. Worked for me!
Very knowledgeable with a great beside manner. I went to Dr. Perkins to ask about rosacea treatment options, and he clearly mapped out the symptoms, how they can be (or can't be) addressed and what my options were. Very professional, very informative.
I was seen right away. Dr. Perkins has a great bedside manner. He answered all my concerns and did a thorough exam.
Dr. Perkins was very professional with an engaging manner. He managed to put both I and my wife at ease regarding some recent moles, and mentioned that he makes his money cutting things off of people's skin, and the fact that he was not recommending anything should prove that there were no issues.
Dr.Perkins was very professional and knowledgable. I came there to discuss a mark on my face he ask question and got straight to the point I am very pleased with the outcome of my visit and I will definitely return and front desk staff was wonderful thanks Dr Perkins and staff
The staff was very nice and Dr. Perkins took his time and explained everything to me
Very attentive. listened to my symptoms and knew exactly how to treat my body and face acne.
Dr. Perkins was super knowledgeable and got right to the root of the problem. Walked out of his office feeling confident that he knew what the issue with my skin is and that I'm on the path to remedying it!
I had a great appointment with Dr. Perkins. It was actually the longest appointment that I ever had with a dermatologist! I came in concerned that I was losing hair (I'm a female) and instead of my previous dermatologist who glanced over me for half a second, Dr. Perkins looked at my scalp, put his hands through my hair multiple times to see if any hair would fall out,and had my blood checked for iron levels. He was so thorough, funny, and most of all-he really gave me the time of day.
Dr. Perkins was very prompt, personal, and professional. He did an excellent job of explaining his diagnosis and recommended course of treatment. I would highly recommend him and would return in the future.
Dr Perkins was great! Very attentive and walked me through all of my options. He's very upbeat and knowledgeable.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Dr. Perkins. He has been absolutely incredible. I have an impossible schedule, and Dr Perkins has always been incredibly accommodating -- always going above and beyond to make sure I have what I need. On one occasion, I was having trouble getting medication before an overseas trip. Even though it was after hours on a Friday and he wasn't the doctor on call, Dr. Perkins went out of his way to call the pharmacy, negotiate with my insurance, and make sure I had my medication-- all by himself. As he spoke to me on the phone, I could hear that he was at a dinner party (noises in the background)... And the fact that he took time away from his personal life to make sure I was okay-- that was just incredible. Since then, I've had to cancel and reschedule appointments a million times-- and his staff has always been accommodating. I want to make sure that everyone knows how amazing my experience has been.
I really liked him. He appeared highly knowledgable, took my concerns seriously and was able to provide sound advice. Although I asked many questions, he took the time necssary to address everything I wanted to cover during the visit. I will definitely be seeing him again.
I found him very nice, professional and efficient. He didn't act rushed and took time to explain the exam and results. I also found his office staff to be quite pleasant and friendly. Wait time was minimal and on top of that, he's in a very convenient location downtown. I definitely plan to see him again for annual exams or for specific dermatological needs.
Dr Perkins was a great and I would highly recommend him. Unfortunately, his office manager was very rude condescending to myself, other patients, and staff. Her attitude and demeanor was very off putting.
Dr. Perkins was nice, professional and I will definitely recommend him to others
Super thorough. Answered all my questions. Will be going back.
Excellent visit! Took plenty of time, clearly explained everything, and I never felt rushed. Wished all doctor visits were like this!
Dr. Perkins was very personable, and quickly and clearly explained my skin condition to me, how it came to be that way, and the options for treatment and day-to-day care of my skin. He answered my many questions thoroughly. The only negative thing I'd say about Dr. Perkins is that he cut off my sentences sometimes, an "okay I get it," but I tend to ramble, so I can't blame him for that. He gave me detailed instructions for how to use my medication, gave me a coupon for one of my medications, and seemed eager to see my progress at my next visit. I was very pleased with my visit and feel like I left more knowledgeable about my skin's condition and confident in the direction Dr. Perkins was sending me. Contrary to some reviews, I found Dr. Perkins' front-desk staff to be personable, attentive, and available. I called the office twice before my appointment to make sure of a few things and the two women I spoke with were friendly and helpful, and although you could tell they were very busy, they didn't seem to be frustrated with answering my questions. I'd definitely recommend this doctor.
Nice doctor with a good bedside manner. The office was very crowded and the wait was longer than expected, but overall a solid experience.
Doctor was really helpful in diagnosing all my issues right away and prescribing appropriate treatments. Highly recommended!
He was great. Very informative, conversational, and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.
It was a good visit. Location is great, right near the metro! The staff was very nice and I didn't have to wait long to be seen. He was very knowledgeable and I liked that he gave me different treatment options. I will definitely recommend.
Great Doctor, very helpful, reassuring, and insightful.
Very pleased with the overall visit. Dr. Perkins listened closely and was very attentive to my problems. He gave me several treatment options. Would absolutely recommend!
He was wonderful. Took time to get to know me.
Professional and down to earth. Clearly explains treatment options. Highly recommended.
Bedside manner was great!
Now here is a dermatologist that doesn’t get under your skin! :0 The office and doctor were very professional and efficient. I felt informed and well cared for.
Very Positive Experience!
Sharp, friendly doctor. Very approachable and thorough. I was seen immediately with no wait whatsoever
My visit was great. Very quick to answer questions and made everything easy to understand.
I had an overall favorable impression of Dr. Perkins. He explained treatment options clearly and I set up a follow-up appointment for an in-house minor procedure within a couple of weeks.
Friendly, right to the problem, and right to the solution.
The office was quick and efficient. Dr. Perkins was super friendly, easy to talk to, and someone I would certainly go back to see.
Perfect appointment. Very pleased overall.
Excellent. Minimal wait, very friendly and responsive.
In and out in a flash - would recommend Dr. Perkins to anyone in need of a great dermatologist in the DC/MD/VA area.
Straight to business. Great explanations. Little sugar-coating or persuasive talk.
He was great and very knowledgeable. He told me everything I needed to know and left me without questions. I highly recommend him.
He's a great guy and knows his stuff! I would highly recommend him.
He seemed to really care about finding me the right diagnostic for my unique skin condition. I feel like he really wanted to help me get better. I would recommend him to my friends.
My visit was great, professional and quick. I will recommend him to others.
Dr. Perkins was able to give me a diagnosis right away with a simple explanation about the condition and the medication he prescribed. I was very happy with his candor.
I felt so well taken care of and listened to by Dr. Perkins. He really took the time to understand my medical history and to give personalized advice. He was very friendly and made me feel extremely comfortable. He patiently explained his reasoning for recommending the medications he prescribed, and I left having a very clear idea of how to use them and when to come back for a follow-up visit. I really can't recommend him highly enough! I'd rate 6 out of 5 stars if I could.
My visit with Dr. Perkins went very smoothly! It was difficult finding new doctors in the area after moving here from the Midwest but am pleased to have found Dr. Perkins. He asked the right questions to identify my issues, did not rush me like most do, and came up with a game-plan that fits my lifestyle and needs! A week later after having issues with medications not being covered by insurance, etc. a staff member at Dr. Perkins office followed up with me with an alternate solution and was able to take care of everything! I was so relieved that this office took the extra time to make sure I was able to get what I needed. Would definitely recommend and will be returning for my 10 week followup!
Very friendly, saw me promptly (I had a 2:15 appointment and was out by 2:40), and got right to my issue. He was also able to identify another issue had not come specifically about, and prescribed something that could treat both problems. Overall, very good experience.
He is a good doctor. Very practical. Didn't spend much time.
He is Awesome!! Very thourough and did not make me feel rushed.
He was GREAT! Most of my dermatology experiences include wishy-washy "ideas" of what "might" be wrong and suggestions on how to make the condition "better." Dr. Perkins' diagnosis was clear and quick, his explanation of my condition and treatment plan was thorough and understandable and I left confident that it would work. I'd recommend him to anyone and everyone!
The first time I saw him he did not have the best bedtime manner, however I believe I may have caught him on a bad day because during my second visit he was very personable and understanding.
Smart and helfpul. First dermatologist I've really liked! really explained things!
No complaints at all. Good sense of me as a patient (and human) right away. Great location and organized enough to see me when I showed up few minutes early.
So far its been very professional in rhe office
Dr. Perkins was great, I was in within 5 minutes of my appointment time. He took time to explain his assessment, his diagnosis and any follow up that was needed. All in all could not have asked for a better experience.
Dr. Perkins did a fine job at addressing the issue I was there for. But when I asked him some other questions, I found that he was impatient, very short in his answers, and kept looking at his watch.
I thought Dr Perkins was personable, intelligent, and thoughtful in his responses. I did not feel rushed, and I left the office understanding more about melanoma and the different types of skin cancers than before. I plan to go back to him for my annual dermatological exam.
He was very personable and helpful. I would definitely recommend him!
Walked in, took 10 minutes for the exam and I was out and back to work.
Dr. Perkins was very nice and took time to understand my problem. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I'd highly recommend. The office staff is also very friendly! I was in and out of the office very quickly, which is always nice to be able to squeeze in an appt. during lunch.
With me, Dr. P was appropriate, professional, and quick. He was well-spoken and clear, answering all of my questions. He seemed, perhaps, a little rushed, and though I didn't see him looking towards the exit (metaphorically), I felt hurried when we talked. In that regard, with a doc on a time-budget, it is best to have specific, thought-out questions, which requires doing some simple online research before your appointment. In a relatively short first appointment, Dr. P was able to attend to multiple concerns that I brought to him, though we did not have time to address them all. I will go back for another appointment.
With Zoc Doc I was able to fill out my paperwork ahead of time online, so once I checked in at Dr. Perkins' office, I was sitting for about a minute before I was called back. Dr. Perkins first discussed with me the types of things I should look out for in doing skin exams myself, and then completed a thorough skin evaluation. I would recommend Dr. Perkins for his professionalism and great manner--he was easy to talk to and I felt comfortable asking questions.
As others have said, he's a little condescending, but he took his time and definitely knows what he is talking about.
This will be my third visit. I like how to the point, yet compassionate he and his staff are. Love my results.
Dr. Perkins zeroed in on the issues I was having pretty quickly, and discussed some possible causes in a way that I could understand without having a medical background. His instructions on what to do were really clear, which I appreciated -- I left knowing what to do next, and that's not something you always get from a doctor's office. I didn't find him to be the most empathetic doctor I've seen -- he was somewhat blunt -- but all in all, I was happy with my visit.
Quick diagnosis, friendly manner, this guy was pretty great.
The receptionists were very friendly and I didn't have to wait very long (~20mins) to be seen. My only negative is Dr. Perkins' bedside manner in that he comes across off as pretentious and condescending. He knows his stuff though, which is entirely the point, if you ask me. Nonetheless, many patients opt to see a dermatologist as a last resort and are very sensitive (emotionally) about the condition of their skin. Having a tad bit of empathy and respect for us mere plebeians would reduce the overall stress and tension between doctor and patient.
Great M.D.! He was professional, knowledgable and personable. I highly recommend Dr. Perkins.
Great doctor- he explained everything very well and answered my questions.
Very good, precise diagnosis, respect a doctor that knows his surgical limitations and is not afraid to refer to a specialist.
Dr. Perkins was great. Very informative.
Bad, didn't treat me well, looked like in a hurry.
I was much happier with him than with previous dermatologists I have been to. He shared my concerns and interests in a way others had not and gave me a good idea of my treatment options in a way not previously done.
Very helpful. Culturally Competent. Very nice.
I arrived 30 minutes early and was out the door 15 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment. Dr. Perkins had a easy going but serious bedside manner that made me comfortable but I knew I was being examined by a professional. I would definitely return and recommend this physician to family and friends.
He was very good about listening to my questions and explaining everything in detail.
Very friendly and helpful, super-nice staff too, great experience overall.
Dr. Perkins was very professional and courteous. Most importantly, he was direct, honest, and knowledgeable.
Dr. Perkins was great and his staff was very pleasant. I went into for a very easy wart treatment, but he took the time to educate me about it, the options for treatment, and even told me it's not something I need to worry about if I don't want to go through with treatment. I hadn't received that before. I was very impressed. I'm even more impressed that in this town, such a great doctor is not only in-network for a lot of folks, but very internet friendly, including being on ZocDoc, which makes appointments easy.
Seemed efficient and intelligent. Answered my questions.
I left Dr. Perkins' office with a bad taste in my mouth due to his bedside manner. I went to him to look at a mole and get advice on minor acne. He throughly examined the mole and answered my questions about it, even gave me an informational pamphlet so I could know what to keep my eyes on as far as cancer is concerned. I was put back though when it came to acne. He went from doctor to Accutane salesman very quickly. It was very uncomfortable having to listen to this doctor give me a sales pitch for Accutane for 10 minutes. Even after I explained that I had researched it and am not interested, he continued to go on and on about Accutane. I did not enjoy the high pressure sales environment and would not recommend him for anyone seeking acne treatment. He wouldn't give me any advice about acne other than, "you need Accutane".
The office staff were very friendly and Dr. Perkins was very attentive and listened to all of my questions and comments. He was considerate when I asked about prescription prices and explained why he was making all of his recommendations clearly.
Dr. Perkins was attentive and concise—mainly, I didn't have to jump through hoops to get to the point. It's clear he values the patient and the patient's time. I will say that the reception staff was a little clueless, but nothing that made me wait a long time.
I had a very positive experience visiting Dr. Perkins' office. It's quite close to the metro, so I had no trouble getting there. I did wait about 30 minutes to see the doctor, but I'm not entirely sure that's the practice's fault--the patient whose appointment was before mine had arrived very late. I came to the office with concerns about a couple of moles and lesions on my skin. Dr. Perkins made me feel quite at ease about those, explaining what sorts of marks I should feel concerned about. Removing the three lesions was quick and painless. Dr. Perkins' assistant, Tatiana, was friendly and incredibly gentle in numbing them. Overall, I'm very glad I went to this doctor's office, and would recommend his practice to anyone concerned about marks on his or her skin.
Very pleasant and informative experience. Went out of his way to explain things in great detail without coming off as patronizing. His office staff also seemed to be engaged and professional, which seems to be something of a rarity in my experience in DC.
As always, Dr. Perkins was excellent. I went in with a slight nervous feeling due to a skin discoloration I saw and he immediate calmed my worries and reassured me again before our meeting ended. Dr. Perkins is someone I would highly recommend to anyone.
Excellent bedside manor ...clearly explained all the things he was about to do and the underlying reasons. Very friendly.
Knowledgeable, respectful. That's all anyone ever asks of a doctor and I'm glad I got it.
My first visit to a dermatologist in over a decade went very well with Dr. Perkins. He did an excellent job explaining everything and was very thorough. The front-desk staff was efficient and friendly. Would recommend.
Dr. Perkins was super nice and knowledgeable. He answered in details all the questions I had and gave me great instructions regarding the concern I was there.
Appointment was quick but I had to schedule this appointment to state what I wanted and I need to make another appointment to have what I wanted done, even though the procedure will be less than 30 minutes.
Attentive, skilled doctor who made it clear that he cared about addressing the condition about which I came to see him.
Good doctor. Listens to your concerns and suggests his recommended course of action with no trepidation. I tad bit intense but I'd rather have that then the guy who wasn't sure of himself. Would reccommend.
Did not listen and would not give me a chance to speak.
The doctor was nice, explained everything very well, but his staff was a bit slow and the registration process was cumbersome.
He was great, friendly & informative. Will definitely be seeing him again.
Efficient staff, friendly & quick. Overall, a great experience!
Quick, but professional. Definitely recommend Dr. Perkins.
I thought he was very professional, and immediately treated my needs.
Great! Very professional, gave a complete explaination of my presenting issue and of the procedure, cost, and on-going treatment plan.
I felt very comfortable...he explained things very clearly...very professional
Very friendly, very informative, and very respectful. Would recommend
Very comforting and professional manner. I would recommend him.
He's great! He set clear expectations that the prescription medicine would not work within 2-5 days but to give the medicine a few weeks, then call him if my symptoms do not clear.
I thought Dr. Perkins was very informative and professional. He communicates very well, which is important and impacts the quality of care. He did a great job.
So excited to getting treated with him
Dr. Perkins thought an abnormal mole on my shoulder was a pimple. This was just 1 minute after he explained to me why he is the best doctor alive and the importance of getting his expertise as to not confuse abnormal moles as pimples........ Very amusing, and also very scary. After I pointed out the mole was not a pimple, he promptly removed the mole and then tried to charge me an arm and a leg for the removal "service" and a bunch of repetitive tests from their lab partner. It took me 8 months to clear up this debacle. Next time I am going to just pop the abnormal mole as if it was a pimple!:)
Best doctor for miles around!
Dr. Perkins was personable and professional. He took the time to explain things in detail including the risks and benefits of the different treatment options.
Very professional and easy to understand.
I wish I could give Dr. Perkins a better rating, I just don't think I spent enough time with him. He does seem nice and appears to listen, my appointment was just for five minutes. Upon my arrival I was told I was not in the calendar even though I had the confirmation e-mail. I was told by one person it was due to their new system, another due to a ZocDoc error. The front desk staff made me aware of the problem but apparently not the doctor so he did not know I was there - which resulted in a one hour wait time. Either way I guess I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was my first visit, but conversely it WAS my first visit and I wish I had been left with a better impression.
Dr. Perkins was efficient and helpful. My appointment began on time and he ensured that I understood everything that he said. I would definitely recommend!
Best dermatologist I've been to.
Very friendly and fast. A quick talker and can be challenging to keep up but seems to be very knowledgeable
Very personable and listened to my concerns
Fantastic. Well informed, friendly. Office staff was amazing as well.
Always friendly and professional !
I have adult acne. Was given a medication which is used to lower blood pressure but the doc told me it is good for skin and had a lot of clients on it. Side effect is a severely sore throat. When I went to the doctor, they couldn't find my pulse and said to stop taking it immediately. I went back to Dr. Perkins, he recommended a peel. Which is great if you have 1 breakout but a huge waste if you have an ongoing problem.
Dr. Perkins is a fantastic doctor. He's professional, an expert in all things dermatology, friendly, and effective. Highly recommended for all skin issues.
Very professional, very prompt, highly recommend him.
Great visit overall!
I appreciate his thorough explanation of the treatment, he appeared to be very knowledgeable. I was impressed by the courteous staff and will be returning for other services.
Professional, thorough, took the time to explain procedures and I was completely satified with Dr. Perkins
Great service, friendly, efficient. Only complaint : waited longer than I wanted for an early appointment. It was scheduled for 915 and I was seen around 940.
Seemed good, but rushed.
Having tried a different derm that I was not at all happy with, a colleague referred me to Dr Perkins, so I went in with some expectations. First up, there's a sign in the consulting room indicating that the practice expects that patients will leave feeling heard by the doctor, with all the information they need and with all their questions answered, and encourages patients to feel free to speak freely - this speaks very well of the practice, and I certainly felt confident that I could raise all my concerns/questions. Dr Perkins was just slightly gruff but made sure he answered all my questions, took the time I needed, and explained everything clearly and simply. I'd happily recommend him and will definitely be going back to him!
He's a great doctor-- I'm lucky to have him as my dermatologist.
This was my first visit to Dr. Perkins, and it was very routine. He was direct, kind, and action- and solution-oriented. My only complaint was the length of time it took for me to get to see him once I arrived at the office - nearly an hour.
It was great
Dr. Perkins is great -- professional, caring and helpful. I recommend him highly!
Great, fast, proffessional and personable.
My visit with Dr. Perkins went well. He gave me a comprehensive analysis and provided me with a regiment that would meet all my needs.
Dr. Perkins was very professional and also friendly. He addressed all of my concerns about my skin and seemed very knowledgeable. He was able to recommend some over the counter medications to keep things simple for me.
