“Vi is a really great listener, naturally talks to you like a friend, and is a personable therapist. For example, I'm a Christian and was hoping for Scriptural insight in any future sessions. She said she would incorporate it into our sessions. If my insurance covered her I would absolutely continue to work with her.”

“When I began my journey with Dr. Vi, I was filled with anxiety and uncertainty. I was overwhelmed and often felt alone, but her compassion and understanding changed everything. From our first session, she created a safe, nonjudgmental space where I felt truly seen and heard. She listened deeply, offered thoughtful insights, and helped me develop tools to manage my emotions. As a Christian, I found her faith-based approach especially meaningful. Navigating life as a believer can be challenging, and her ability to integrate spirituality into therapy provided me with profound comfort and connection. Her encouragement reminded me that healing is not linear and that every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating. Dr. Vi has been a true blessing in my life. She not only helped me through one of my most difficult times but also strengthened my faith and resilience. I am forever grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking growth and healing. ”

Getting to know Dr. Vi Pham Negrete

Welcome, my name is Vi! I hold different marginalized identities as a woman of color, an immigrant from Viet Nam, and a former international student; I also have lived experience with anxiety, depression, trauma, racism, and oppression. At the same time, I hold privileged identities: able-bodied, cisgender, straight, Christian, and grew up in a middle-class family. These identities allow me to discover life through intersectional lenses, and I am grateful for all of them. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, which has deepened my understanding and commitment to supporting others through their unique experiences.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Through my own healing journey, I instantly learned clinicians with similar identities and cultural backgrounds who could fully facilitate a space of growth in my identity as an Asian immigrant woman was lacking. This disheartening experience fueled my passion to provide a space to highlight and honor immigrant and AAPI experiences through my work as a licensed clinical psychologist. It is a privilege and blessing for me to be able to provide the space that was previously unavailable, and to collaborate with international students, immigrants, and AAPI-identified folks, as well as individuals who occupy an intersection of their identity that is marked by marginalization and oppression. My approach to therapy is primarily drawn from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) using solution-focused brief strategies and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, informed by a humanistic and multicultural framework. As a bilingual clinician, I provide psychotherapy services in both English and Vietnamese (Tieng Viet).

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your life’s challenges can feel overwhelming at times, whether it’s navigating relationships, managing stress, or overcoming past traumas. Embarking on therapy can be daunting, especially when feeling trapped in a cycle of stress and uncertainty. Many of the clients I work with feel successful and high functioning in many aspects of their lives but find themselves struggling in others. While they may thrive professionally or academically, they often grapple with managing work-related stress or navigating personal conflicts. Despite their successes, they may feel taxed by the pressures of their careers or relationships, no matter how hard they try. In our sessions, you can come as you are. Through our work together, you can find yourself break free from that sense of stagnation, discovering newfound clarity and hope. Drawing from my own experiences and cultural backgrounds, I offer a unique perspective that honors the complexities of identity and fosters a deeper sense of connection. With compassion and expertise, I guide you toward finding solutions that resonate with your values and aspirations, unpack these issues, develop coping strategies, and cultivate resilience, ultimately empowering you to live a more fulfilling and authentic life.

Individual therapy sessions are $250 for a 45-minute telehealth appointment. I operate as a fully private-pay practice, which means I’m not contracted with insurance. For many clients, this offers greater flexibility, privacy, and control over their care—without the limitations or required diagnoses often imposed by insurance companies. I accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover) as well as HSA/FSA cards, which many people find helpful for reducing their out-of-pocket cost. Payments are securely processed at the time of each session. If you have a PPO plan with out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible to receive partial reimbursement for therapy. I provide a detailed superbill at the end of each month that you can easily submit through your insurance portal. Many of my clients choose this route and are able to recover a portion of their session fees depending on their individual plan. I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients who need financial flexibility due to life transitions, job changes, or other circumstances. If cost is a concern, please feel free to reach out. I'm always happy to discuss current availability or help you explore additional options. My goal is to make therapy feel accessible, supportive, and grounded—not overwhelming. You deserve care that fits your life, honors your pace, and helps you feel understood. If you have any questions about payment, receipts, or how to use your out-of-network benefits, I’m here to help walk you through it.
