“My wait time was horrendous . 2 hours to be seen. Also the attendants in the front need to do a better job about keeping cell phones on silent or not allow patients to play videos so everyone can hear- The waiting room was managed poorly.
Dr Yu and his assistant were helpful and allowed me sufficient time to have any questions answered. My time spent with them was the best part. ”

Dr. Yu had his back to me the entire time. He walked in the room, barely said hello, and talked to me without looking at me the whole time. He was in and out of the office in about 3 minutes. He used all professional jargon to explain what was wrong with my back and when I asked him to further explain, he laughed and said “just stop lifting things”. He wrote me a prescription and walked out of the office without even telling me what the prescription was. Will never go back here

Dr. Yu was as pleased as I was about the positive results for x-rays of my lower back - after one more year. He encouraged me to keep moving and enjoying my acting avocation and to keep working on weight control. He takes a personal interest in how I'm doing and this is important to me.

Dr. Yu is very professional, courteous and spends time when needed to explain or answer questions relating to the visit. His PA are the same. I would highly recommend Dr. Yu for anyone considering orthopedic consultation for surgery.

I had read a few less-than-positive reviews about Dr. Yu's bedside manner, and so I had managed my expectations. I arrived very early to my appointment and was called in pretty quickly. I had x-rays taken, and then waited about 10-15 minutes for Dr. Yu. He listened to my concerns but didn't really ask any probing questions. Granted, my case was probably much less severe than most patients he sees. He made a very quick recommendation to do 6-8 weeks of physical therapy based on the x-rays and I had no reason to question it. He seemed like he knew his stuff, but that was conveyed more by his confidence than what he communicated. He could definitely smile more and try to be more caring and empathetic, but that is really my only feedback.

Very comprehensive. Good options.

Dr. Yu and the NP were both nice and seemed to understand my issues. First, the NP spent more time talking to me and showing me how my MRI study showed different concerns. Then Dr. Yu came in and discussed surgical options. He was patient and answered multiple questions. The NP then stayed to answer my logistical questions. Overall, everyone was friendly and helpful.

Dr. Yu and his nurse practitioner are wonderful. I went in for a second opinion related to lumbar spine pain. They listened attentively to my situation and came up with a treatment/diagnosis plan that I was comfortable pursuing.

I went to Dr. Yu to determine if I need surgery on my back and found him very professional and knowledgable. I am very comfortable with him and therefore will be using him as my surgeon.
January 19, 2016Sandra E.Verified patient
Dr. Yu was very intelligent, kind, and helpful. I had seen three other orthopedic surgeons for the same issue but didn't feel comfortable with any of them because they didn't take the time to explain things and just seemed interested in making me have surgery. Dr. Yu took time to explain everything and answered all my questions. He gave me a lot to think about. If I do have surgery I'm sure I will have it with him because he didn't pressure me but genuinely wanted to help me decide on my own.

Dr. Yu is professional, but not very caring or attentive. I got the impression I was wasting his time and he was not interested in getting me the best treatment.
I would not go back to him
October 13, 2015Ofer I.Verified patient
While his PA was incredibly kind and gracious, I felt as though Dr. Yu interacted with me with an underlying tone as though I was wasting his time. There was a subtle annoyance detected as I pushed for very clear answers to the questions I came in for. I understand that he probably sees far too many referrals that should not have been referred, but that is not something that should be taken in with him to the examination rooms nor affect his interactions with patients. Take it up with the referring doctors.
