You may understand yourself well and still find yourself repeating patterns you wish you could change. Maybe you have difficulty setting boundaries without feeling guilty, take responsibility for other people’s feelings, or find that anxiety, perfectionism, or self-criticism keeps shaping your choices and relationships. I’m a licensed psychologist who works with adults navigating anxiety, relationship and family patterns, boundaries and self-trust, perfectionism and high achievement, and major life transitions. Therapy can help you understand why certain patterns keep showing up and what it would take to respond differently. My approach combines depth with practical change. We may explore how earlier experiences, family dynamics, relationships, and cultural context have shaped how you relate to yourself and others. At the same time, we work on what is happening now: communicating more directly, setting boundaries, tolerating difficult emotions, and practicing different responses when familiar patterns emerge. I draw from psychodynamic and relational approaches as well as evidence-based strategies, including DBT. I don’t believe therapy needs to choose between insight and action. Lasting change often comes from understanding yourself deeply enough to make different choices in everyday life. I bring a culturally responsive perspective to therapy and have particular experience working with immigrants and people navigating multiple cultural identities and family expectations. I provide therapy in English and Spanish. My style is warm, direct, collaborative, and active. I ask questions, notice patterns, and help you examine ways of coping that may no longer be serving you. I provide online individual therapy for adults. Sessions are 50–55 minutes and my fee is $275 per session. I am an out-of-network provider and offer courtesy claim submission for clients with out-of-network benefits.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is active and collaborative. I listen closely, but I’m not a therapist who will simply sit back and expect you to do all of the talking. I ask questions, offer observations, help you make connections, and provide direct feedback when I think it may be useful. We’ll pay attention to patterns, including how you respond to difficult emotions, what happens in your relationships, the expectations you place on yourself, and the ways earlier experiences may still influence your choices today. Understanding where a pattern came from matters, but we won’t stop there. We’ll also look at what keeps it going and what you can begin doing differently. Depending on what brings you to therapy, our work may include practicing boundaries and assertive communication, developing strategies for managing anxiety or intense emotions, examining self-criticism and perfectionism, or becoming more comfortable making decisions that reflect your values rather than fear, guilt, or other people’s expectations. I also pay attention to context. Family, culture, identity, immigration experiences, and relationships can all shape what we learn about responsibility, success, emotions, and what we believe we “should” do. I want therapy to make room for those complexities rather than treating them as background details. You can expect me to be warm and supportive while also being willing to challenge you. My goal is not to tell you what choices to make. It is to help you understand yourself more clearly, recognize the patterns that may be limiting you, and develop the skills and confidence to make choices that feel more intentional and aligned with the life and relationships you want.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, what you would like to change, and the experiences and patterns that may be contributing to what is happening now. I’ll ask questions about your current concerns, relationships, important life experiences, and relevant family and cultural context. Together, we’ll identify priorities for our work and begin developing a shared understanding of what may be keeping you stuck. After that, sessions are shaped by both your goals and what is happening in your life from week to week. You might bring in a recent interaction, a difficult decision, an emotional reaction you want to understand, or a pattern you have started noticing. We’ll slow it down, explore what is happening beneath the surface, and connect it to larger patterns when useful. Our work may also include practicing concrete skills between or during sessions. For example, we might work through how to communicate a boundary, prepare for a difficult conversation, develop a different response to anxiety or guilt, or notice when perfectionism or self-criticism is influencing your choices. Therapy is not a rigid sequence of steps, and I tailor the process to each person. We’ll periodically revisit your goals, talk openly about what is and isn’t helping, and adjust our work as your needs change. The aim is for what you learn about yourself in therapy to gradually translate into meaningful changes outside of our sessions.
