What should a new client know about working with you?

When I use a psychodynamic approach, there is an emphasis on childhood experiences that have influenced mental health issues. As well, I rely on CBT and the challenging of unhealthy, unhelpful thinking distortions. When using somatic therapy, I focus on the body and how emotions present in the body. I rely on mindfulness techniques, breath work, nervous system stabilization, grounding, and progressive muscle relaxation to name a few.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first sessions include our getting to know each other through an intake and goal setting process, and treatment planning. A bit of change for you begins. As the intervention phase comes next, it includes uncovering your past experiences or trauma to better understand their impact on your present life, building effective coping skills to navigate stress and emotional hurdles, and practicing new thought patterns and behaviors.
