Getting to know Dr. William Drell
We are ONLY scheduling for TMS on Zocdoc. We are not accepting General Psychiatry or Medication Management patients. Houston West TMS was founded by Dr. William Drell, a Board Certified Psychiatrist treating patients with TRANSCRANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION. His goal is to help reduce his patients’ suffering and help them handle stress more effectively. In 2018, Dr Drell was certified in Brainsway Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Houston West TMS is a psychiatrist directed Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Center in west Houston.
TMS is an FDA cleared device to treat Treatment Resistant Depression. It involves 6-8 weeks of daily treatments. More than 3 out of 4 patients who have not responded to multiple medications and psychotherapy have had a positive result, improving their depression and quality of life.
Insurance will usually coverTMS for depression if the patient has not achieved results from 2-4 antidepressants, medication to boost the antidepressants (like Seroquel, Ability, Rexulti) and psychotherapy.
Patients who do not meet these multiple insurance company "hurdles' can choose to self pay. At Houston West TMS we offer very competitive self pay rates for people with depression, anxiety, migraines, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and bipolar depression, among other off label conditions.

Originally from Illinois, Dr. Drell attended the University of Oklahoma in order to pursue his medical degree. He continued his medical education at the Baylor College of Medicine, where he completed both an internship and a residency focusing on the study of psychiatry.

What should a new client know about working with you?
Dr. Drell was the first provider of Brainsway Deep TMS in west Houston. We are able to provide TMS for treatment resistant depression, anxiety, migraines and tinnitus in addition to other conditions. Insurance will often cover TMS for depression if the patient has tried 2 to 4 antidepressants along with 2 additional booster medications and psychotherapy without achieving adequate results . If you have not met the insurance criteria, you can choose to self pay for TMS at a very competitive price.
