Getting to know Dr. William Gardner

I am a clinical psychologist in the San Francisco Bay Area with a PsyD and Master's in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University, a Bachelor's degree from Boston University, and completed a residency in psychology at Kaiser Permanente. I provide individually tailored psychotherapy for adults using cognitive behavioral therapy to reduce symptoms and improve overall functioning. I approach patient care by combining scientifically supported, brief, solution-focused interventions with a positive, collaborative approach. We will work together to develop treatment goals and then strive to reach them. I have experience providing psychotherapy to help people manage a variety of issues, including: - Anxiety, stress, and panic - Anger management - Attention Deficit Issues (ADD and ADHD) - Grief and loss - Depression - Social and specific phobias - Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Career counseling: transition, job stress, and issues related to being an entrepreneur - Relationship, dating, and sexual issues - Achieving life balance

What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach patient care by combining scientifically supported, brief, solution-focused interventions with a positive collaborative approach. We will work together to develop treatment goals and then strive to reach them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I prefer to have a complimentary brief phone call prior to our first session. This way we can begin to build a relationship but also confirm that we are a good fit prior to our first official session.
