I am licensed and board certified in psychiatry and neurology, and I joined Serenity Mental Health Centers’ clinical team as a seasoned psychiatrist with 18 years’ experience. After earning my medical degree at University of the East- Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center (UERMMMC) in 1993, I then completed my residency at University of Virginia Health System, specializing in Psychiatric Medicine. I went on to complete my fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry in 2002 and became Board Certified in the practice of psychiatry. I gained valuable clinical experience practicing psychiatry at Partners in Recovery which is now called COPA Health, serving some of the mentally ill population of Maricopa County. I passionately believe in meeting people where they are at and collaborating as a team to develop the best solution for each patient. When care is collaborative and patients feel truly seen, healing is possible and recovery, and even total remission of symptoms is possible. I have seen psychiatric patients dismissed by other medical specialists many times and told that “it’s all in their head”. That has never been an acceptable response to me. I have always worked with my patients to get the equal opportunity of getting the medical care that they need despite their mental illness. I make it a point to educate them on their medical illness in addition to their psychiatric illness. I was born and raised in the Philippines. I have been living in the United States since 1996 and have lived in Wisconsin, Virginia and Arizona. I enjoy being around people, and enjoy singing. Someday I’d love to travel the world and visit all the places I haven’t seen yet. I have two sweet dogs that keep me company and warm my heart every day.
