Getting to know Dr. Yong Lee

I am one of the most well-liked and respected psychiatrists in Phoenix and I am honored with three awards from Vitals.com: 2014 Patients’ Choice Award, On-Time Doctor Award and Compassionate Doctor Recognition. I bring 26 years of advanced mental health treatment experience to the Serenity clinical team. Also having worked with veterans at the Arizona VA for many years, I have helped thousands of patients throughout my career in a variety of clinical settings — outpatient, inpatient, day treatment, and as a psychiatric consultation-liaison to other physicians. I am excited to work with the most cutting-edge mental health treatments and technology offered at Serenity Mental Health Centers to help my patients overcome complex mood and anxiety disorders and achieve their potential. I knew I wanted to be a psychiatrist from an early age as I developed a love for science and serving others. After graduating with a degree in Behavioral Biology at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University, I pursued my dream of becoming a doctor and earned my Medical Doctorate degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. After finishing my internship in Internal Medicine at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., I completed my residency in the world-renowned psychiatry residency program at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. I am board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Doctor Lee is the best!
Dr. Lee has been a major part of my teenage daughters mental health journey. After visiting a mental health urgent care and going through two rounds of trying different medications and them making her worse, I decided to find a more experienced psychiatrist. Dr. Lee switched her immediately to a medication he expected would work better for her based on his experience and her needs, which was exactly the right one. Since then, she has been seeing him regularly. Not to say there hasn't been some ups and downs, but currently she is doing very well. At every visit he is always empathetic but also very realistic. He also has great advice for my daughter which she has been very receptive to. We love him so much, we drive 30 miles to our appointments. I would highly recommend Dr. Lee!
