About Dr. Zachary Mendelson
Dr. Mendelson graduated Cum Laude, with a BS in Neuroscience, from Tulane University. He then went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. His Internship was completed at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, New York, and his Residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
Dr. Mendelson specializes in anterior segment surgery, including cataract and glaucoma procedures, medical retina, dry eye and aesthetics. In his free time, Dr. Mendelson enjoys snowboarding, cooking, fishing, travel, comedy, and playing with his 2 miniature dachshunds.

Dr Mendelson is an excellent doctor. He did my Lasik surgery in October and I am very happy with the results. His pre-op and post-op care is also excellent. It took me 20 years to be brave enough to have Lasik - he very patiently & thoroughly took me through all the options. He was the 4th doctor I'd seen and was the most thorough and patient by far. I highly recommend him.
His support team (technicians/doctors) are also excellent - knowledgeable, efficient & willing to answer a million questions. They are also respectful of your time - which as someone trying to fit this into a busy work schedule, I highly appreciated.
The only downside is the main desk is difficult to work with (to both contact & not super friendly). I had difficulty rescheduling an appointment through them, but when I escalated to his surgery coordinator (who had booked earlier appointments for me), she sorted it out in minutes (thanks Emily!).
I confidently recommend Dr Mendelson based on my experience - thank you!

I wasn’t seen by Dr M right away, but I was attended by a very sweet technician. She made the appointment process a lot more fun, even though I haven’t been to the doctors in 3-4 years. When I did see Dr M he was very friendly & very attentive. He made sure I was comfortable & he didn’t rush through my examination at all. He heard all my concerns out & followed up with any examinations he thought he would be helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone! The ladies in the front were charismatic & always laughing, I loved it!

Modern instruments to avoid dilation (retina scan). Huge plus not to have to be dilated and have a driver. Took time to ensure my apprehensive conclusions to the "is it better like this, or like this?" gambit when trying to determine prescription strength.

Assistant Robin and Dr. Mendelson were great but the wait was unacceptable. Had a 4pm appt. Almost 45 mins past appt time until ophthalmologic assistant took me back and Dr. didn’t get to me until almost 5:20. I walked out of the office at 5:55 for a 4pm appt.

The doctor was very friendly, easy to talk to, great manner. I will definitely go see him again. Have even recommended him to my husband. Staff were quite friendly. I will say, though, finding the office wasn’t very good, partly due to an incorrect address on Zocdoc, not to mention the staff member on the phone failing to mention where to check in upon entering the building (very unclear). I was also not happy with having to fill out paperwork I’d basically already done online. However, I would definitely go back as the positives far outweigh the negatives for me.

The office was conveniently located and easy to find right off of Rt. 10. It was a beautiful office, looked newly renovated and was very clean. I was taken within 15 minutes of arriving - it was my first time at the eye doctor so I was unsure of what to expect but everyone talked me through each of the tests and what they were for.
Doctor Mendelson listened to my concerns, gave a thorough exam and explained everything each step of the way.
