Getting to know Alexander Badillo

Alex’s philosophy on mental health is grounded in the belief that we all possess the answers to our questions, but may need support in uncovering and accepting them. Through a warm, empathic, and collaborative approach, Alex works with clients to clarify their thoughts, establish meaningful goals, and move toward fuller, more purposeful lives. This work can be both challenging and invigorating, inviting clients into areas of self-discovery that are often unexplored. Alex believes that the better we understand ourselves, the better we understand the world around us—and that this understanding empowers us to shape our lives in alignment with our goals. Alex places strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, believing it to be the foundation of meaningful healing. A natural communicator, he earned a degree in Communication from Seton Hall University, with a minor in French, before completing his Juris Doctor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He practiced law in a variety of settings and states, but ultimately felt drawn toward more direct, person-centered work. Counseling allows Alex to focus on conflict resolution and personal growth rather than conflict creation. Alex earned his Master’s degree in Mental Health and Wellness from New York University. His professional background makes him especially well suited to support individuals working in high-stress environments, as he understands firsthand the pressures and challenges they face. At the same time, his inclusive and adaptable approach allows him to work effectively with clients from all walks of life. Alex provides counseling for a wide range of concerns, including substance use, anxiety, depression, relationships and couples counseling, workplace challenges, perfectionism, trauma, multicultural issues, and LGBTQ+ life experiences. Having traveled extensively, Alex brings a deep respect for cultural diversity to his work and is fully fluent in Spanish.
