What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy is, ultimately, a partnership. It is a collaborative process that asks one to share vulnerable and intimate experiences, and requires trust in order to be effective. Finding a therapist that is the right fit is important! That's why I place a great deal of emphasis on creating a warm, genuine therapeutic relationship that is built on trust and mutual respect. ?As a therapist, I strive to be authentic, curious, and non-judgmental. This is a place to share your story. Together, we can work through challenges and changes.? I believe that regardless of gender, age, race, religion, ethnicity, disability, socio-economic status, nationality, and sexuality, that people should be valued, celebrated, and loved for their differences.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically utilize an insight-based, psychodynamic approach that emphasizes the importance of understanding both your past and present experiences and how they add up to equal you. This may include exploring your early experiences, relationships, patterns, and emotions.? I also utilize elements of acceptance and commitment therapy. This approach focuses on staying present in the moment and accepting thoughts and feelings without judgement. It aims to help you move through difficulties to so you can put your energy into healing rather than dwelling on the negative. I use a trauma-focused, culturally informed framework to prioritize the therapeutic relationship and intersecting identities. ?
