Getting to know Alix Birdoff Henick

I am a licensed psychotherapist in both New York and Texas, with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University. I specialize in working with adults and adolescents (18+) who have experienced trauma and are seeking support for trauma-related symptoms, anxiety, and depression. My practice is dedicated to helping clients navigate the complexities of PTSD, enhance emotional regulation, build self-esteem, understand behavior patterns, and cultivate healthier relationships. With a client-centered approach, I tailor therapy to meet each individual's unique needs and goals. I integrate evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address unhelpful thought patterns, Psychodynamic Therapy to explore the underlying roots of behaviors, Trauma-Focused Therapy to provide compassionate support through the healing process, and Integrative Talk Therapy to navigate life's challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. I meet clients where they are and listen closely to their individual needs. Sessions are personalized to ensure that clients feel supported in ways that are most meaningful to them. Through this collaborative process, I empower clients to build resilience, develop effective coping strategies, and experience meaningful growth. I recognize the courage it takes to seek help and am committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. With expertise in trauma therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to help them navigate their experiences, build resilience, and foster lasting change. Whether you are navigating the aftermath of trauma or seeking greater self-understanding, I am here to provide support and guidance. Together, we can work towards healing, emotional well-being, and a more fulfilling life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with an initial 60-minute intake session, where we will discuss your history, current challenges, and goals for therapy. This session allows me to get a comprehensive understanding of your needs and helps us determine the best approach for your treatment. Ongoing sessions are typically 45-55 minutes and provide a supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, and patterns while developing coping strategies. My approach is collaborative and tailored to each client, integrating evidence-based techniques to support your growth and healing.
