Navigating life and transitioning through ups and downs can be very difficult. We at times feel fear, frustration, and confusion but suppress those emotions because we think it will pass. This causes a great strain on our self-development and self-care. As we embark on these new stages of change in our lives, it is important to maintain awareness, avoid self-neglect, and engage in self-compassion. In trying to keep everything afloat you may feel like you’re drowning in the process. Allow me to extend a life jacket for you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My work aligns with treatment approaches and principles rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and mindfulness therapy. In conjunction, these modalities help clients take incremental steps towards the behavior change they seek by reshaping their thinking in an environment that is non-judgmental and tailored to their strengths. I work with clients on increasing emotional awareness and becoming more present-moment focused. This helps in reducing negative self-judgment and alleviates stressors and mental blocks that hinder growth. Allow me to support you in discovering the tools and capabilities you have within yourself. Let’s work together in building the best version of you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I first like to have a free 15 minute consultation by phone or zoom, so that you feel comfortable in getting to know me and can decide if myself or other therapists in my practice would be a good fit for working together. An intake is then scheduled and an invitation to our online portal will provide you some paperwork to fill out so that our initial session can be mostly getting into what you need to address in therapy, and less about background info collecting. Intakes last between 45min to 60 minutes, and if you feel that the therapy style is a good fit, we can book a consistent therapy spot. Sessions go for 40-45 minutes and are often directed by the client without any particular agenda by us. We are here to help your explore your goals needs, and not dictate how you should be or what you need to be doing. Therapy is a process, and it is collaborative. Therapy usually starts off as a weekly session, and might go down to bi-weekly depending on how you feel it is assisting you towards your therapeutic goals and needs.
