Psychotherapist
MD
Life has a funny way of doing the things we least expect. Although we try to organize our lives in ways that grant us peace, happiness and fulfillment, life sometimes causes us pain. I can help you understand the causes of your struggles and provide you with the skills you need to restore your balance, healing and happiness. You will learn how to establish better boundaries as you negotiate your mental health struggles. You will achieve a greater ability to understand your circumstances and how to negotiate with yourself in a kind and self-respecting way to resolve your concerns. I can help you have better control of your emotions and develop the ability to deal with difficult relationships. Self reflection can be hard but it is worth the growth and healing that is the result. We will do more self reflection while also establishing realistic goals, do problem solving, work on short and long term strategies to achieve meaningful and sustainable positive change. I will work with you to do the things needed to restore your sleep, improve your diet, ramp up your lifestyle and do other things to help you live the life you have always wanted. I graduated from South Carolina State University 1984 with a degree in political science and went on to receive my social work master's degree and a certificate in Alcohol and Drug Studies from the University of South Carolina. I have worked as a clinically trained and licensed psychotherapist since 1996 and received clinical instruction in Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, EMDR, Solution Focused Treatment, and Crisis Interventions. I have worked with addictions populations, special needs children, hospice care, family and children services, and veterans. I have helped my clients manage anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, various addictions, obsessive compulsive disorders, anger issues, family conflict, domestic violence and trauma.
