I was very late - 30 minutes, in fact - due to some train troubles but nevertheless he was very accepting and not the slightest bit upset about things. He was also pretty accepting of my pronouns, so if that helps your opinion then by all means.

More about Brian Johnston, LMSW
I am a psychotherapist working with adults, couples, and children. The approach I employ is psychodynamic psychotherapy informed by the perspective that the radical nature of its premises and goals are consonant with a social justice lens. This is possible because part of the outcome of our endeavor is aimed at increasing one’s freedom from whatever constraining forces lead a person to begin therapy. To date my experience includes working with people dealing with separation, loss, and grief; social stigma and prejudice; interpersonal struggles; sexuality and gender; trauma including sexual abuse and incest; and who identify along the LGBTQ+ spectrum. With pre-adolescent children, I use play psychotherapy. Currently I am a staff clinician at Rose Hill Psychological Services. Before joining Rose Hill, I worked and trained at community outpatient clinics and a college counseling center. At Hunter College, I studied clinical social work with individuals and groups. Through the CUNY Graduate Center, I trained at the clinical psychology program at City College, earning an M.A.

I had a great experience with therapist Brian Johnston. He was extremely helpful; in talking me through the specific personal issues I came to discuss, as well as connecting these to other areas of my life & helping me function better as a whole. I came out of therapy feeling at peace with my past.
