Getting to know Burton Krain

Hi there, I'm Burton! I have been in private practice for 50+ years, having earned my Master's and Doctorate from Illinois Institute of Technology and my clinical psychology license from the State of Illinois in 1973. Having been in active practice for this long, I have had the privilege of studying under some of the most significant figures in psychology in the Midwest. Gaining feedback from clients over the years on their outcomes allowed me to hone my skills as a diagnostician and clinician. Applying this knowledge and learning from the outcomes has allowed me to increase my success rate with my patients. My approach I utilize an eclectic approach to therapies and treatments. I am not bound by the conventions of dated treatment modalities, and having experienced feedback over the decades has allowed me to provide targeted treatments that are most helpful to reach desired outcomes. I use humor, reality goals, and incremental steps to reach satisfactory targets in therapy. I am gratified to receive the feedback from patients that what we have accomplished has met their goals and allowed them to move on and past the presenting issues that brought them to me. I want my patients to know they can trust my approaches and gain a better outcome if they stick with the goals we set. My communication style I want my patients to know that I am caring and very approachable and have their best interests at heart. When I commit to a patient, I try to give everything I have learned so that my patients feel comfortable and assured that they are getting the best care possible. My journey to mental healthcare I was fortunate to start very early in life and have been practicing for over 50 years because I sincerely believe it is my calling in life.
