Getting to know Dr. Caryn Darwin

Dr. Caryn Darwin is a licensed psychologist, school psychologist, and registered play therapist with over 20 years of experience working with children and families. She completed her Bachelors, Masters and Education Specialist degrees at Austin Peay State University in 2000, 2003, and 2004, respectively and her Doctorate degree in School Psychology from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN in 2016. She conducts psychological evaluations, consultation, and play therapy. Dr. Darwin utilizes integrative approaches including solution focused, cognitive behavior, and person centered, along with play-based modalities.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am primarily accepting new clients for psychological evaluations currently. I like to begin with an initial complimentary consultation (virtual) to glean a little background information. Next, based on information obtained from our initial consultation, we decide our next steps together. If we move forward with an evaluation, the next steps would be to conduct a virtual initial intake interview with takes about 60-75 minutes (virtual). Finally, if psychological testing is scheduled, this primarily takes place in person at the office unless we explicitly discuss different arrangements. Since I primarily work with children, I like parents to be involved every step of the way to support their children, but also provide children with autonomy to express themselves an their psychological needs based on their perspectives as they too are little people!
