It allows us to speak our unapologetic truth without fear of judgment by family and friends. Many have experienced shame and guilt—do we run to family and friends to share these feelings? Often, no. These repressed thoughts manifest in our lives, and this is where therapy helps. Many misunderstand the importance of having a therapist, feeling they can handle life’s challenges alone. While self-determination is valuable, it doesn’t always allow for authentic revelations. It’s like cross-examining yourself—are we truly capable of asking ourselves the tough questions or connecting past trauma to current behavior? If you can, that’s great; if not, therapy offers the opportunity for life-changing insights. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness, I help you connect the dots—understanding your emotional cycle: experiences, feelings, behaviors, and consequences. We identify triggers and define what peace of mind looks like for you. Using S.M.A.R.T. goals, we set measurable objectives so you can track your success in real time. Your success is my success! I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Mercy University, equipping me with the skills to support you on this journey. In closing, as we age, the expectation is to “just deal with it,” but dealing with certain feelings alone is not always easy. Therapy can help.

Working with me is a journey of self discovery.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The initial visit will be your opportunity to talk about what led you to therapy. You will be educated on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. From there you will learn how to identify mal adaptive thoughts that may be contributing to mal adaptive behaviors. We will work to identify your triggers and see if there are any unhealthy defense mechanisms at play and finally we will determine the healthiest way for you to manage your emotional response's to minimize distress.

I've been going to Dr Barrant for a couple of sessions now. I wanted to wait before I gave an honest review. I felt comfortable from day 1 (which is rare) She has amazing energy and does a great job at pulling things out of you. I feel the growth and geniually look foward to all my sessions.

I think Ms. Barrant is amazing. I have been doing therapy off and on for some time now because I never really feel like the therapist I have is really invested in my well being or even understands me.
