NY
Hi there, I'm Charlotte! My name is Charlotte Disotell-Rusch. I am currently licensed in New York State as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. My approach to therapy is humanistic and person-centered. Three of the approaches that I enjoy using in therapy sessions are Brainspotting, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing. My approach The approach I take in therapy is trauma-informed care, which encompasses many different methods in one. Trauma-informed care is humanistic and person-centered, so I view each individual client as unique, just as they are. My focus I typically work with those who have experienced trauma. I enjoy working with adolescents and supporting them in creating healing and increased self-esteem. My communication style The tone I set in therapy is very warm and validating. Most of my clients feel that they are able to discuss things openly with me because I have a unique way of validating their experiences. My journey to mental healthcare I started my journey in mental health in 2018 when I became an Engagement Specialist at a small community mental health drop-in center. I learned that those who live with mental health challenges are very brave and strong individuals who have shown their strength in learning to work with and manage their mental health. I began my graduate journey at the University of the Cumberlands in 2020, where I enjoyed working as a practicum and intern student under a Neuropsychologist who had been in the mental health field for 35+ years. I am currently an Advanced Doctoral Student at Capella University in the Ph.D. program in Counseling Education and Supervision. My goals for you I approach goal setting in a collaborative fashion. I work with clients to create unique goals, break those goals down into achievable steps, and develop a flow for accomplishing these steps together.
