“I came to Dr. Rizea for a bariatric evaluation. He was very professional, kind, patient, empathetic, and well knowledgeable, creating a comfortable environment to discuss my emotional triggers and readiness for lifestyle changes surgery will bring. It didn’t feel like a clinical assessment, but more like a supportive conversation, leaving me confident and prepared for the journey ahead. Getting to know Dr. Christian Rizea

I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PsyD) providing evidence-based therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, and relationship difficulties. Many of my clients are high-functioning individuals who feel stuck in cycles of worry, tension, or emotional reactivity despite outward success. I work collaboratively with clients to help them regain clarity, emotional balance, and a sense of control. My approach is thoughtful, structured, and tailored to each person’s goals, whether that involves managing anxiety, improving relationships, strengthening coping skills, or navigating major life transitions. I integrate cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed, and insight-oriented strategies to help clients understand patterns that keep them stuck and develop practical tools for meaningful, lasting change. Sessions are focused, supportive, and designed to help you move forward with confidence. I offer a confidential, professional space where you can slow down, reflect, and work toward a healthier and more grounded way of living.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is collaborative, focused, and tailored to your goals. I aim to create a calm, professional environment where you can speak openly and feel understood without pressure or judgment. Sessions are structured but flexible, allowing us to address what matters most to you while still making steady progress. Many clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, mentally overloaded, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Together, we work to identify what’s contributing to that stress and develop practical strategies to help you feel more grounded, clear-headed, and emotionally balanced. I use evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed, and insight-oriented techniques, to help clients build coping skills, improve relationships, and navigate challenging life transitions. My style is thoughtful and direct, with an emphasis on meaningful, lasting change rather than quick fixes. If you’re looking for a supportive yet structured therapeutic experience that helps you move forward with greater confidence and self-understanding, we may be a good fit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy usually begins with an initial session focused on understanding what’s bringing you in and what you’d like to change. We’ll talk about your current concerns, relevant background, and the goals you want to work toward, at a pace that feels comfortable for you. This first session helps us clarify priorities and begin forming a thoughtful, realistic plan. After that, sessions are structured yet flexible. Each meeting focuses on the challenges most relevant to you at that time—whether that’s anxiety, chronic stress, relationship tension, or feeling mentally overwhelmed. We may explore thought patterns that contribute to distress, develop practical coping strategies, or reflect on how past experiences are influencing the present. My approach is collaborative and active. You can expect open dialogue, guided reflection, and practical tools you can apply between sessions. Progress is reviewed regularly, and we adjust our focus as your needs evolve. The goal is not just insight, but meaningful, sustainable change that improves how you feel and function in daily life.
