Getting to know Christopher Casey

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University at Albany. My approach is client-centered, grounded in a strong background in trauma-informed care. Having worked in human services my entire life, I have gained a deep understanding of how complex clinical issues can be and how trauma and loss impact us on many levels. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, shaped by a comprehensive psychosocial assessment and an intuitive sense of what will be most effective for each client. Trauma-informed care, family therapy, Cognitive Therapy, DBT, Attachment Theory, Rogerian positive regard, Jungian therapy, Existential Therapy, Transpersonal Therapy, RCET, and other theoretical frameworks inform my overall approach. Over the years, I have worked with a wide variety of clients, which has made me comfortable addressing a broad range of clinical issues, including severe trauma, devastating losses, and psychological, physical, and sexual abuse. I have also worked extensively with couples and individuals, where a strong grasp of family therapy dynamics has been invaluable. Additionally, understanding how traumatic events drive hypervigilant and dysfunctional behaviors?such as obsessive-compulsive and substance abuse disorders?is essential to my work. I am a highly upbeat and optimistic soul who strives to build an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect with my clients. I have grown confident not only through my work with clients but also by overcoming setbacks and losses in my personal life. While I do talk a lot, I am an excellent listener and believe I have developed my empathic skills alongside my intellectual ones.
