Daniel Hoefling, LMHC

Psychotherapist
NY
Hi there, I'm Daniel! I work with people who have noticed patterns of thinking, feeling, or acting that are getting in the way of relationships, work, goals, or other areas of life. Often, these patterns stem from trauma or other adverse childhood experiences that get us stuck. My goal is to help you explore how these patterns developed and get unstuck. My focus The majority of my clients are entering therapy struggling with self-esteem, passive or aggressive communication, people pleasing, perfectionism, and other patterns that they have been stuck with for a while. By understanding how these patterns may have helped in the past, we can find new strategies to meet our needs that are more adaptive. My approach You can expect that I will be collaborative and curious, asking probing questions to try to understand how your experiences influence what is showing up for you. I blend parts work and body work with CBT to explore methods of shifting your experiences and behaviors, both from within the body and mind. My communication style I focus on creating a non-judgmental space where we can collaboratively explore your experiences. I switch from directive to non-directive depending on your goals and needs in session, while maintaining curiosity for your story. Probing questions and providing reflections to ensure I am understanding are hallmarks of my style.
