Hi there, I'm Daniel! In a modern world where it is easy to lose touch with ourselves and others, I believe it is important to create a compassionate environment through being authentic, warm, and nonjudgmental. From this space, I offer a collaborative relationship through which I am committed to helping you move toward whatever it is that matters most to you. My approach I lean heavily on my training from a cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic background. I believe the blending of these two approaches provides the most flexible and optimal approach for meaningful change. In terms of cognitive-behavioral approaches, I enjoy utilizing traditional approaches (i.e., challenging thinking patterns), as well as more contemporary approaches such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which helps to promote the acceptance of internal experiences and getting you to engage in actions guided by your core values. I also find incorporating paradoxes, metaphors, and experiential exercises helpful to this end. As for my psychodynamic side, so to speak, the emphasis here is on deeper levels of change--think personality. To this end, the focus is on analyzing the relational dynamics (i.e., personality patterns) developed from earlier experiences, which inevitably surface within the therapeutic relationship, and often operate outside of our immediate consciousness. Finally, it is important for you to know that while I acknowledge diagnostic labels serve a necessary purpose, I endeavor to view my clients holistically and hold such labels lightly. My focus My ideal clients are those who are suffering from anxiety, shame, depression, substance use problems, anger management difficulties, or more severe challenges such as psychosis. I also work particularly well with those who are psychologically-minded (i.e., those who are self-reflective) or are seeking to build upon their psychological health.
