Dr. Dave Davis, PhD

Psychologist
AZ
Hi, I've been a licensed psychologist since 1980, with a twenty-year career in the BioMedical Service Corps of the USAF, followed by twenty more years of private practice in the sunshine states of California, Hawaii, and now Arizona. At this point, I should probably be retiring instead of starting something new with Grow Therapy, but that’s just me. I don’t believe in retirement and instead strive to "keep on keeping on," sometimes even picking up speed as I near the finish line. Why should I retire and let go of something that has always given me my greatest sense of meaning and purpose? I enjoy working with adults of all ages, but as I get older, I find I am most effective with older adults. Besides practicing more or less traditional psychology, I am also a BCIA board-certified practitioner of Biofeedback and Neurofeedback and enjoy working with those who have stress-related disorders. I am a strong proponent of developing "skill power," which consists of psychophysiological self-regulation skills that aid in regulating the self. My motto is "learn skill power over pill power" to become more of the person you want to be. I share the view that chronically high levels of stress, which may have started in childhood and continued across the lifespan, are at the root of most psychological, behavioral, and physical symptoms for which people seek healthcare. Ongoing high levels of stress result in chronically elevated nervous system arousal, which is associated with many psychological, emotional, and behavioral problems referred to as mental disorders, including depression, anxiety, anger, PTSD, chronic pain, insomnia, high blood pressure and heart disease, low self-esteem, relationship problems, and many others that impair health and the ability to perform at one’s best.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
