David Kahan, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I’m currently accepting new clients. Getting a new diagnosis can feel confusing, overwhelming, or even scary. You might be wondering what it means for your future, your relationships, or your day-to-day life. You don’t have to figure it out on your own. I’m here to walk with you as you adjust, help you make sense of what you’re experiencing, and find tools to manage the changes ahead. My clients often describe me as compassionate, honest, and direct. Together, we’ll focus on helping you feel more grounded, connected, and confident as you move forward. I work with adolescents, young adults, and families who are facing new moderate mental health diagnoses. These early stages can feel especially uncertain, and I help clients and their loved ones build understanding and healthier ways to cope together. My focus is on early support and building a strong foundation for long-term well-being. You can expect a supportive and open space where your concerns are taken seriously. I believe in meeting you where you are and making therapy feel approachable, not clinical. Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors, time with family, and learning new things which reminds me of the value of balance + connection. That’s what I hope to bring into your sessions.
