Hello. My name is David Kraus, and I am a master's level Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York with over 15 years of clinical experience helping people improve their overall quality of life. I earned my Master's in Community Mental Health Counseling from Canisius University. I have worked and developed skills in a variety of environments, including mental health clinics, child and family services, substance use clinics, refugee shelters, Catholic Health, nursing homes, tele-counseling, and an Independent Living Center, where I fought for the rights of and assisted those with any form of disability to get their needs met while fostering dignity of choice. Should you choose to work with me, I will do my best to create a safe, non-judgmental, and comfortable environment in which we can work at whatever pace suits you to solve any problems you want to move past. Being a member of a social species, all humans need help from others to support them in reaching their full potential. My goal as a counselor is to form a person-centered therapeutic relationship with those I partner with to assist them in fine-tuning and/or developing whatever tools they will need to achieve their overall life goals as they build the future they desire to habituate. I specialize in many treatment modalities, including CBT, NLP, mindfulness, psychodynamic, person-centered, and trauma-informed care. Individuals I have successfully worked with come from diverse populations of all ages and have been diagnosed with a wide range of minor to severe mental health and medical diagnoses.
