Hi there, I'm Dean! I am a mental health therapist who is dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges, develop self-awareness, and work toward lasting wellness. My focus My main focuses are anxiety, trauma, interpersonal relations, coping skills, anger management, and more. I also specialize in supporting people of color, informed in part by my own Caribbean identity and Afrocentric perspectives. My approach recognizes the ways in which culture, identity, history, and community can shape mental health and healing. My extensive experience includes inpatient and outpatient settings, schools, and community programs, where I’ve worked with youth, individuals, families, couples, and groups. My journey to mental healthcare As someone who grew up in poverty, I unfortunately faced hardships that made me grow up very quickly. As I got older, I recognized the prominence of life struggles among all people, and how there was a disconnect between a need for help, and help being available. So I sought out a career that can assist people in the challenges that they face. My goals for you I provide responsive care that honors each client’s lived experiences, while also challenging for greater self-awareness, connection, and resilience. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and empowering environment where clients feel equipped to strive for their best selves. Our first session In the first session, I ask a lot of questions to get an idea of everything going on, along with all the variables, so that I can gather the full picture.
