Hello, I'm Deyanira, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. I provide individual and couples counseling, and I am passionate about helping my clients navigate through life's challenges. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Troy University, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. I then completed my graduate studies at the University of Colorado, where I majored in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Addictions. My professional journey has equipped me with the skills to specialize in treating trauma, addictions (both behavioral and chemical), anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorders. I have a special interest in supporting military and military-affiliated members, as well as first responders. As a military spouse of nine years, I bring both personal and professional experience to serving these populations. Before joining SonderMind, I was the Military Clinician at a local inpatient hospital, providing individual, group, and couples counseling for crisis stabilization, combat trauma, military sexual trauma, and substance abuse. My clinical approach centers on creating a trusting and safe environment for my clients. I believe that a solid therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of effective treatment. I draw from various treatment modalities and techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and SMART Recovery. I am trained and experienced in multiple evidence-based treatments and am also a trained yoga instructor, helping clients connect their mind and body. I believe in an individualized treatment approach and strive to deliver holistic outcomes. Together, we will work to create and achieve observable and measurable goals, drawing upon your values and strengths to help you thrive intrapersonally, within relationships, and in other environments.
