Hi there, I'm Diana!
Diana Funches is a queer, Black, licensed clinical social worker providing nonjudgmental and client-centered therapy. She has nearly a decade of experience serving the LGBTQ+ population and those experiencing depression, anxiety, IPV, and other trauma. Regarded for her honesty, being grounded, and encouragement, she meets people where they are and provides support on the healing journey.
My approach
My approach to therapy is client-centered, nonjudgmental, and strengths-based.
My focus
I generally work with individuals experiencing ADHD, depression, anxiety, IPV, and other trauma. I work with you on career issues, and racial, gender, and sexuality concerns. Clients generally are experiencing concern with some areas of their life and I am ready to work with you towards being the better version of yourself.
My communication style
I am gentle but direct. I listen and allow you to be as expressive with your language as needed to feel comfortable. You can expect to be respected and validated by me.
My journey to therapy
My journey began with providing individual and group therapy for LGBTQIA youth at an NYC Drop-In Center. I have provided therapy for individuals experiencing IPV and sexual violence and for the last 7 years I have been motivated to help vulnerable individuals find their voice, and safety and provide support during the process.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting based on the client's needs and safety first. I meet the client where they are at and we collaborate to create a treatment plan that feels best.
My first session with you
Expect your first session to be a space where you will be greeted warmly and provided with a safe space to be open and supported. I ask that you create a space free of distractions where you feel safe to speak freely.
