Psychotherapist
280 Madison Ave, New York, NY
I'm a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW) offering psychodynamic, trauma-informed therapy for adults, couples, and teens in New York City and across New York State. Many of the people I work with appear capable and put-together on the outside. Internally, they're navigating burnout, a persistent sense that something isn't quite right, relationship patterns that repeat no matter how much they want things to go differently, or the lasting impact of trauma and early experiences they've never fully addressed. They've often been managing for a long time. They come to therapy because managing isn't enough anymore. My approach is depth-oriented and relational. Rather than focusing primarily on coping skills or symptom management, we work together to understand the emotional and relational patterns shaping how you experience yourself and others, and how those patterns might change. I integrate relational psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic approaches for individuals, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. Before becoming a therapist, I practiced corporate law after earning my JD from Columbia Law School. That background gives me firsthand understanding of high-pressure professional environments, performance-based identity, and the particular kind of burnout that comes from years of putting your interior life aside. It also means you won't need to translate your professional world for me. I work with adults navigating burnout, complex trauma, relationship challenges, anxiety, and depression. I also specialize in working with lawyers and legal professionals, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and individuals exploring LGBTQ+ identity. My work is affirming and non-pathologizing. It's focused on understanding how your patterns developed, not on labeling what's wrong with you. I offer a free consultation to see whether working together feels like a good fit.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is depth-oriented and relational, which means our work together will feel different from more structured, skills-based therapy. There are no worksheets or homework assignments. Sessions are open-ended and collaborative. We follow what feels most alive or most pressing for you, and we slow down to understand it rather than moving quickly toward solutions. This kind of therapy asks something of you: a willingness to explore, to sit with uncertainty, and to bring the full texture of your experience into the room, including things that feel difficult to say out loud. That's not always comfortable, but it's often where the most meaningful work happens. I want new clients to know that the early sessions are as much about building trust as they are about exploring content. There's no pressure to disclose everything at once or to have it all figured out before we begin. We start wherever you are. This approach works best for people who are curious about themselves and open to exploring, rather than looking for a structured, step-by-step program. If you're unsure whether it's the right fit, the consultation is a good place to figure that out together. For those who are ready for something deeper, who want to understand not just what they're struggling with but why, and how it connects to the fuller story of who they are, this work can be genuinely transformative. I offer a free initial consultation before we begin, so you have a chance to get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you might have.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin with a free consultation, usually 15 to 20 minutes, where you can share a bit about what's bringing you to therapy, ask questions about my approach, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. There's no obligation and no preparation required. If we decide to move forward, the first few sessions function as a mutual assessment. I'll ask about your history, your current experience, and what you're hoping to understand or change. You'll get a clearer sense of how I work and whether the relationship feels right. This early period is important. The therapeutic relationship itself is central to the work, and it deserves to be built carefully. Ongoing sessions are 45 minutes and weekly. Frequency can be discussed based on your needs and goals. Sessions don't follow a fixed agenda. We explore what's present for you, what's been activated during the week, what patterns keep surfacing, and what feels difficult to look at directly. I pay close attention to what unfolds both within you and between us, because familiar dynamics often emerge in the therapy relationship and working with them in real time is often where the most durable change happens. Progress in this kind of work is rarely linear. There are periods of significant movement and periods that feel slower. I check in regularly about how the work is feeling and whether it's meeting your needs, and I welcome direct feedback, including when something isn't working. The length of treatment varies considerably depending on what you're working on and what you want from therapy. Some people work with me for a focused period around a specific transition or challenge. Others engage in longer-term work aimed at deeper structural change. We discuss this as we go.

My practice is private pay, meaning I do not bill insurance directly. However, I provide a monthly superbill, which is a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Individual therapy sessions are $250. Couples therapy sessions are $280. Sessions are 45 minutes. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are available for clients who are not able to afford my full fee. If cost is a barrier, I encourage you to mention this during our consultation and we can discuss what might be possible. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 24 hours notice. Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged the full session fee.
