“My previous therapist, is no longer associated with RULA. Another possibility was not licensed in WA. Dr. Ed was a WA state therapist dealing with depression and addiction. Our backgrounds are different, but we share share a willingness to look beyond "the Party Lines" and attempt to assess in an objective manner. He suggested one book, Hawkins' "The Art of Letting Go" that I started but I was not comfortable with it's "New Age"ey foundation. He was ok with that. He suggested "The Urani"..”

Getting to know Dr. Edward Deatherage

Dr. Ed has over 50 thousand hours of direct, face-to-face patient contact. He has developed an approach to treatment that can best be described as eclectic and holistic, utilizing elements of many theoretical approaches to achieve deep emotional healing with his clients. Special interests include Interactive Guided Imagery with its healing power, spirituality, and healing influence, establishing healthy relationships, helping individuals achieve self-discovery and personal growth, human sexuality, facilitating the healing of negative emotions, and generally assisting people in achieving a healthier and happier quality of life. Utilizing Mindfulness concepts and processes is a current major interest. My focus I work with folks from all walks of life and with the most common issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief, fear, relationship issues, Post Traumatic Stress, trauma, etc. I also work with individuals suffering from paranoia, anger, and other more serious mental disorders. My communication style My clients describe a warm, compassionate, accepting, non-critical, and safe atmosphere. My journey to mental healthcare It seemed, as a young adult, folks would come to me with their problems or issues - even in the Army, guys would talk to me about things they wouldn't talk to anyone else about. Initially, my focus was on becoming a medical doctor - mom had scripted me to be a doctor by telling me, as a child that I would be a doctor - it stuck. However, in University, carrying three majors - pre-med, psychology, and theology sorted out pretty quickly because my actual passion was around Psychology. Anyway, as I overcame my own anxiety, I became a better-than-average psychotherapist. As I saw a psychologist for the last two years of graduate school - I became evangelistic about therapy - I wanted everyone to get into therapy.
