Ellie Darmiento, LCSW-R

Psychotherapist
NY
I have worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in mental health for approximately 30 years. My experience includes working with adolescent boys in a Residential Treatment Center and spending 16 years in an outpatient mental health clinic serving children ages 4?18. In that role, I collaborated closely with parents, caretakers, and significant others, including teachers and foster care workers. I also facilitated and led a parent-support group. Throughout this time, I worked as part of a treatment team that included psychiatrists, school personnel, and other clinicians. Additionally, I provided outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. I have also worked with adolescents in a high school health program, offering reproductive and mental health counseling. My view of outpatient therapy is that it can serve as both a preventative measure and a way to reduce existing problematic symptoms. I specialize in areas including depression and anxiety, and especially with young adults, in life coaching. I have always treated my clients with nonjudgmental and empathic respect and remain flexible in my approach. I continue to believe in one of the foundational principles of social work and psychotherapy: ?be where the client is.? I focus treatment not only on what I perceive to be the client's needs but also on the goals the client sets. My approach is supportive psychotherapy. Currently, I treat only adults aged 18 and older. I strive to emanate warmth and acceptance with all my clients.
