Getting to know Eve Johnson

With 18 years of experience, I specialized in working with people who have disabilities, along with their families. I also have experience supporting people through symptoms related to anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma and stressor-related disorders, bi-polar, schizophrenia and personality disorders. Additionally, I have clinical experience working with adolescents and young adults through the challenges that they face (bullying, peer and academic pressure, identity confusion, family issues, entering the workforce).

What should a new client know about working with you?

The client is the expert in their own life. As they teach me about themselves, I can weave psychoeducation into sessions to support them in making informed decisions around their mental health. Human rights and social justice are part of my practice, and this may come up in our sessions as we navigate societal barriers that might be impacting your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have training in CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing. I understand that talk therapy might not always work in the moment, and I'd rather tailor interventions to the person. I may offer to incorporate somatic, breathing, and mindfulness exercises. It's important to me that people feel safe, fulfilled, and learn to trust their own compass.
