Getting to know Dr. Evelyn Llewellyn
Hi there, I'm Evelyn!
My name is Dr. Evelyn Llewellyn, and I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist (Psy.D) with a degree from New York University. I am based in Darien, CT, and work with clients statewide (licensed in CT and NY) via telehealth. I have over 30 years of experience working with individuals ranging from as young as 2 years old to as mature as 100 years. My specializations include, but are not limited to, clients experiencing symptoms of loss, bereavement, anxiety, eating disorders, depression, and trauma.
My Approach: As a professional psychologist, I provide a compassionate, empathic, and judgment-free environment where individuals can develop a sense of trust and comfort. There will be instances where we might work on specific problems such as anxiety or panic attacks by using cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques to help clients make progress and feel better once they have the tools to cope. Other issues may require an insight-oriented, developmental, and culturally sensitive exploration of one's life patterns and how they can be changed to be more positive and productive.
My Client Population and Specialty Focus: I have found that my interpersonal style and approach are generally a good fit for most age groups and populations. Individuals experience stressors as they grow and mature. Having had extensive experience across different settings such as preschools, private and public schools, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities, I have come to understand much of what individuals go through-and we are more similar than different.
My Communication Style: My communication style is informal, calm, yet active. I do my best to promote trust and comfort so clients feel they can talk about anything impacting their life and make changes moving forward toward a healthier, more positive experience.
