Getting to know Dr. Henry Eff

My name is Dr. Henry Eff, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, OCD, and related difficulties such as panic attacks and phobias. I earned my PsyD from Pace University and hold a Bachelor's degree from Trinity College. In therapy, I work to help my clients better understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how re-evaluating these can support individual and interpersonal growth. Creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming space allows clients to gain insight, learn coping skills, and make concrete behavioral changes.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I utilize CBT, DBT, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), mindfulness, and other evidence-based techniques. Sessions involve teaching and practicing skills that make you feel more confident working through your challenges in the real world. I treat people of different backgrounds and age groups (adults, young adults, college, teens/children, and parents). My clients describe my style as direct, goal-focused, warm, humorous and authentic. Ultimately, I strive to help clients experience impactful change and leave our sessions more calm, hopeful, and confident. Along with my private practice, I've worked as a supervising psychologist, where I've taught and trained postdoctoral fellows and Ph.D. interns.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically see patients for 45 minute sessions once a week, with the option to be seen more frequently. Sessions are conducted on a confidential, HIPAA compliant video-based platform. Please know, I do not prescribe medication. Additionally, I am out of network with all insurance companies. I do not accept insurance as I am a private pay provider. Prior to the initial session, clients are emailed and asked to complete standard intake paperwork. I review the information prior to the first session to help facilitate the beginning of treatment. Before the conclusion of a session, I offer at home therapeutic strategies and exercises to promote client progress. I will also be available to provide brief support to clients between sessions, enhancing the clinical experience.

In-network insurances

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $275 for 45 minutes
Ongoing session: $275 for 45 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay

More information on payments and coverage

Dr. Eff is an out-of-network provider who does not accept insurance. However, he provides clients with documentation for submission to insurance companies for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Dr. Eff is a talented psychologist. He has exceptional experience with CBT and exposure work and is great at forming relationships with youth. I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great therapist.
Recently, I went through a breakup that was abrupt and tumultuous. These circumstances left me feeling incredibly anxious, depressed, confused, and betrayed. I was left with unanswered questions and unresolved feelings that wee consuming me everyday. Physically, I felt sick and emotionally, I felt lost by succumbing to numbness in order to avoid all of the pain. It was when I had my first session with Dr. Eff that I started to breathe again. He made me feel safe, comfortable, supported, and most importantly - seen. Throughout the last few months, he has provided me a warm, nurturing, and collaborative space to process my breakup. However, he has also introduced me to concrete skills that have allowed me to get through my days without so much emotional pain and physical fatigue. He has been a crucial part of my healing journey, and I highly recommend him if you are struggling. He will be there to help you take that first step and stick by your side as you configure your next chapter.
Dr. Eff was wonderful with my son. He was warm and patient and my son really enjoyed the sessions. My son learned so much from his time with Dr. Eff about dealing with his emotions. I highly recommend Dr. Eff!
I’ve been in therapy for most of my life due to anxiety, depression, OCD, social anxiety, and others. I recently began seeing Dr. Eff and I must say, the results have been incredible. In a few short weeks, (about 5 now I think.) I’ve already made huge progress and am feeling more optimistic about my future and have had much success working towards and achieving goals we make in our sessions as well as some I set for myself. Dr. Eff is kind, caring, a great listener, very helpful, knowledgeable, and always exactly on time. The office is clean and inviting, with nice snacks to eat and a calming atmosphere. In my book, I have no complaints!
My visits with Henry often help me realize certain issues I didn't see before and he always helps me figure out good ways to work on them. He's got a great attention span and always listens to what I have to say. He also gives me the extra push I need to succeed.
Dr. Henry Eff always greets me with sincere kindness and care. It is very apparent that he cares about my struggles (OCD). I highly recommend anyone, to work with him!
